Remember Azaria Chamberlain? Her mum spent 5 years in jail before it was discovered that the supposed blood stain in their car was in fact something totally else.

Tests can be wrong , the tested material contaminated.

Lot of people also "knew" for sure that Lindy did it.

I used to think there would be nothing worse than loosing child, but now surely the worst thing would be loosing a child and being accused od doing someting to her yourself.

I'm really shocked that anyone can suspect the parents here. I agree the case has been a farce and it wouldn't be the first time the police abroad have made everyone think the relatives are at fault, because they messed up the scene of the crime through sloppiness and inertia (and I'm referring to the police involved in this case not the police in the UK). I can't believe I'm even getting involved in this debate :( .

We've always found them to be quite clinical about the whole thing, never really showing to much emotion but we put it down to them being doctors its true everybody reacts diferently but they have been just a little to calm and collected.

If you look at the mother of poor Rhys Jones an unmistakable grief stricken mother just about able to hold it together, i think surely there can be no other reaction? but i know everyone is different and i really hope that all the bad things im feeling about the Mc canns are wrong :- "

we 'll just have to wait and see

I feel so sad for Madeline mum & dad, they may never see their little girl again. I just pray they will be able to lead some sort of a normal life in the future for the sake of their other two kids.

i just pray they didnt do it !!! far too aloof they are for my likeing...no sadness on their faces at all...good grief they even went for a press-foto shoot along the beach a few times afterwards !! seriously who in their right mind would be thinking of that ?

SORRY SUSPECTS NUM 1 AND 2 IN MY MIND.

i pray im wrong.

everyone reacts to grief differently.who is to say which is the right and which is the wrong reaction? the  mother has asked to be treated as a suspect not cos shes guilty but because she has more rights in law if she is treated as a suspect than if she is just treated as a concerned party
you're right.....

2 very intelligent people here-GP/Consultant

I hope its a ploy to relax Madeleine's abductors.....

The other 'thing' which crops up in my mind is 'Postnatal Depression' but I can't understand the husband supporting his wife if this is the case.....

It's a nightmare......for them/all involved....hope it's over soon 1 way or another....

The difference being that Rhys Jones poor mother knew for certain that her child was dead :(

I don't have any opinions either way on the matter as I never believe anything said in the papers. Maddies parents may be acting strange because they are guilty but it may just be their natural reaction to the tragedy. Who knows???

what I heard yesterday that she used to sedate them to leave them alone when they went out and it went wrong with Maddie.Has anyone else heard this?

Its just another supposition because they are doctors

people want to make sense of it all and are trying to come up with answers

The police in portugal certainly havent conducted the case the way it would have been here

:(

basically the whole investigation has been a balls up from the start. It wouldn't suprise me if things all change today

In my opinion too the portugese police have made a right farse of the whole situtation. I dont for one minute think her parents have anything to do with this.

The police wanted them out of the village a month ago and still do, it would be much easier for them if they could get the parents to admit to something or plead guilty...and the pressure too from the world media must be terrible.

It would be a much easier option then surely for the police to make them look like they have handled the situation better than what they really have.

I dont believe for one minute Madeleines parents are guilty, I hope I am not proved wrong.

I for one would hate to be in their shoes, language barriers etc...facing the police each day in this situtation. :(

I seen on the news last night that the Portuguese police had badly beaten another woman into making a confession that she had killed her child/ren a few years back. Is this the same police force that is working on this case? I'm looking for details on it online, but can't find them.

EDIT: Some details here;

I too have heard the sedating rumour,There was no noise when she was taken and the other two kids did'nt wake either?

It all seem' s a bit odd to me.On top of the cold/calculating manner of both parents,It's not natural,You would be totally in bits :- "

British police have been helping on this case as well so i think they would have seen any "fit-up" or evidence planting?

On top of this it is not the first time they have left thier kids to go out,They lady above the apartment heard a child crying Daddy,Daddy two days earlier at night,And stopped when the McCanns came back!

I also hope i am wrong,But it does'nt seem right somehow..... And all these people in the village back home and Brits abroad do they REALLY know what they are like?

I KNOW a son who murdered his own mother in our street(stabbed 32 times!) and you would not have thought it.

My feelings exactly, Janis

As you say very interesting

The parents are guilty regardless even if they didnt kill madeleine....they left not 1 but 3 children alone while they went out enjoying themselves.....totally inexcusable and totally selfish.

They are still guilty.....if they didnt leave the children alone they would still have a daughter    .
