Just to let you know - Max died very peacefully this morning at 11.15a.m., we were all with him at the vets.

He was diagnosed with a bone tumour in his leg with the plate on October 12th. We didn't have the option of amputation due to other injuries and were managing his pain. He became very poorly over the weekend and was on three different pain killers. At the vet's it became clear that the cancer had spread even though we had caught it very early. We managed to give him a nice birthday yesterday with lots of cake.

I know its hard but try to remember the good times and the times he has made you laugh with his daft greyhound antics. You never gave up on him even when his leg was bad and things didn't look to good. You carried on more than some people would have done. You showed him love after his days as a racer were done.

Thank you all for your very beautiful and thoughtful comments. It means so much to us.

Helen - Tiny is okay at the mo, he was there when Max died and sniffed him so I hope he understands, but we'll have to wait and see how he manages on walks and eating etc. So far he's eaten two sausages!
