Monty has been with us for exactly 3 weeks today :cheers: and he's such a joy to have around.

He's so loving, has such a waggy tail, and seems very quick at catching on to new instructions and games :wub:

He's filling out very nicely, too, losing his ribbiness, and even his bald patches are getting little tufts of new hair growth. We went on holiday last week and he had a wonderful time with Josie, Lola, children and me + OH. Total attention.

Monty has a bit of a problem with dogs he doesn't know, lunging and barking and generally going a bit bonkers even if they're nowhere near us. Josie and Lola are so cool, thank goodness, they just stand there looking bored while I try to control Monty. I'm getting arm muscles like Popeye on my 'lead arm' (w00t) He did manage to nip my friend's Bichon on the nose, and grab another friend's retriever's ear so he wears a muzzle when he's out and about at the moment. I think a socialisation class is the key here!

and this is what he was like 3 weeks ago today, just for comparison, poor little scrap

edited to say - actually, he doesn't look that different in the pictures, but in real life he's changed quite a bit. His fur is now in nice condition, all glossy and soft, and he was very very thin when he first came to us.

He is lovely Helen (and your other dogs of course :wub: ), well done for taking him on. I can totally sympathise with you as I have a fear aggressive dog. I never wanted to put a muzzle on him but seeing Monty it looks like its not bothering him so I might try one on Lenny. We have been going to a behaviourist for over a year now but I think we're being held back by my lack of confidence when walking near other dogs - perhaps a muzzle is the answer :thumbsup:

The muzzle does make me feel less stressed about him hurting other dogs :thumbsup: and I think it ressures other dog owners because he can't hurt their dog. Although I must admit some people take it a sign he's 'vicious' and look at him in a funny way, so be prepared for that reaction. Other people make comments like 'Oh that's not fair!' :blink: You might have to introduce the muzzle for very short times like 30 secs with a fun game going on, so that it's associated with fun, and increase the time. That's what I did with Lola because she hated it at first. Monty was fine straight away, but then he's very placid about everything!

I don't routinely muzzle Lola, btw, but we go to a sighthound fun group in a local equestrian centre where they all have to be muzzled for safety while playing :thumbsup:

I'm so glad people can see the difference with Monty :wub: It's hard work having three dogs but enormously satsifying, and they give so much back :wub:

Thanks for that advice Helen :cheers: One last question though, can you fit treats through the muzzle as his training is heavily reward based?
