Ive just come back from a long morning at the Farm.
Weve had to have Mr Potts our 16yr old pony put to sleep, he had had cloic all night, when i got to the farm this morning MR Potts was covered in mud, (he had to live out) hes been rolling around so much his rug had come off, and the past 2 years hes had colic 5 times, and also surgery. The Vet advised that he had had enough and after 2 years of careful feeding etc he had suffered long enough.
Ive never had a horse PTS and often worried about it, we had him injected and i had to hold him , Bill our vet was very good, and Mr Potts just feel to his knees and almost laid down like a dog. His head went between his knees and he drifted away from this life.
It was very calming and has put my mind at rest, something i had been worrying about for so many years has tormented my mind wether to shoot them for instand death or inject beacuse some horses can fight it.
im happy Mr Potts drifted away , he knew and had fought enough. I just dont know what to tell Emily my (soon to be) step daughter whos pony he really was. I phoned work this morning, they were great and told me to take the day off after i explained what i thought was going to happen.
RIP Mr Potts, We will all miss you. :huggles:
Love you
