Three years ago i bred a litter of 7 lovely coloured pups. I hadn't undertaken this lightly and don't breed often ( once every few years ). I put a lot of thought into my lines, wanting to produce good, strong coloured pups and the resulting litter was everything i had wanted. I had, so i thought, been really carefull about selecting prospective owners, all the pups were healthy, i had talked about resposible ownership, etc, supplied puppy packs food and fact sheets, told the new owners that i was always on hand to help no matter what and made sure that i delivered all of the pups safely, to thier new homes even driving as far as kent ( from lancashire ).

Last year the blue boy that i had sold, Rolo, sired a litter and i went to see them, they were a nice litter of pups and I was really taken with one of the dog pups, Otis, and i decided after carefull concideration to have him. Otis came home at eight weeks and was duely de bugged and wormed, the result was three days of passing and spewing worms :x  HOW HARD IS IT TO WORM PUPPIES!!

I went round a couple of months ago and said Rolo's skin wasn't looking that good and he said that the vet was treating him for it. how i wish now that i hadn't left it there!

Now this guy has two bitches and is breeding back to back litters,He contacted me to see if I knew any one who would want one of the two remaining 15 week old pups.

Concerned I went round and there was yet another litter of ribby pups on the ground, the two bitches were trying to kill each others pups, Rolo still had the skin complaint and was living outside in the yard in a partially covered run with no dry bedding and little cover from the elements. You can imagine by now how that i was beyond angry, so i went back with some heavies with the intention of removing Rolo.He must have sensed that i couldn't leave it because when i got there he had moved Rolo to another location and wasn't going to tell me where.I removed the two pups and i have organised an RSPCA visit.

In hindsight maybe I should have called the officials in immediately but at the time I was angry and all i could think about was getting by boy back home,

Because of this awfull man and despite the wonderfull homes the other pups went to i will never EVER breed a litter again.

sorry if i have ranted a bit

Becka I'm really sorry, I know how much upset all this has caused you. Don't beat yourself up about it as you've already took on the pups which was no mean feat.

Have you got any piks of Rolo that you could post incase the dog is spotted by a k9er?

Poor you, sadly as we have said before you cannot guarantee every home is going to be as good as you first hoped :(

I'm so sorry this has happened, it has soured your experience of breeding, which is so sad.

I'm glad you got the 2 pups out, but do let us know how Rolo gets on.

 Sorry Becca :( That story is so sad :(

Hope you get poor Rolo back.

Makes me so angry hearing about people like that

Sorry to hear of your bad luck Bekka. People change over time, Im sure it was ok when you sold Rolo as a puppy. This man probably thought it was quite an easy way to make some money. I cant abide people who use there dogs for financial gain.

Really sorry that you have had this experience, but you must rest assured that you did everything you could when homing your pups, and like someone else has already said you have now taken on two others. o:)

I too hope that you find Rolo soon :luck:

Don't blame you for needing to rant- sometimes you just have to. Poor Rolo, I hope you find him soon.

So sad. :(

Maybe you should give us a hint where this unshameful man lives, so that buyers will be aware.

You are the kind of person I would like to buy a puppy/dog from! :) I myself vet prospective buyers of my home bred finches, and don't let them have mine unless I'm convinced that they can provide suitable homes for them.

I hope you can find Rolo soon :luck:

if you have a pic post it up and cerculat it to as many rescues as you can you may fined that a dog warden or other rescues has had contact with rolo or someone my have reported him to them. i have come across a few peoepl who for spit would rathere give there dog to a rescue than hand it back to the breeder

allso keep your eyes peeled for any futuer litters for sale and just phone as if interested in a pup and ask the breed lines it may help track were he is now you can even get someone else to see any pups and allso ask to see dad then you will know were he is at what time and hopfully get him back.

we are all allowed to make mistakes hun, especially in judging peoples characters. :) if it were foolproof there would be no need to interview them.we could just look at them and say hes a nice person, hes not!but it aint that easy.dont make yourself miserable over this.you did the best you could, this prat obviously dont deserve to have any dog. the best thing to do now is concentrate on trying to get roly back.try to appeal to this guys baser instincts.maybe if you offered him money :- " (either that or a visit from the heavy mob!)

This is so awful! :( I really hope you find Rolo soon and that he is ok! :luck:

Well done for taking the two other pups! are they ok? did you say there was another litter of pups there too?

Poor whippies! there really are some awful people out-there! It makes me so mad

Second everything everyone's said Becka, my offer still stands when Rolo turns up  good luck in finding him :luck: :luck: :luck:

poor you and Rolo :(

Its something Ive always dreaded happening to one of my pups , But we can only do our best when it comes to finding suitable homes . How ever much you try , the odd, bad one is always lurking there

Hope you find out where your boy is soon , Giving us the area would help

thanks everyone :huggles:

The person (and i use the term lightly) who has him lives in liverpool, he will not have sold him as Rolo is his "stud dog" but he will have shipped him out to one of his no mark mates. I have asked the RSPCA to keep me notified of any progress.

If nothing happens then i should think rolo will be back at his house when he thinks things have calmed down, so it might just be a case of waiting (not easy)

the two pups were wormed this morning and have eaten about their own weight in food today so i doubt it will be too long before their ribs start to cover, asside from that they are remarkably chirpy little things , well maybe not so little as they are Otis's brothers (w00t)

I'm off for a large drink might catch you all later, and thanks again

Do hope you manage to get Rolo back - Good Luck :luck: what horrible people.

As others have said - we can only do our best when it comes to finding suitable homes. The really bad part about bad potential dog owners is that some of them can pass themselves off as nice responsible human beings.

Hope your wait is short and that Rolo turns up soon!!! :luck: :luck: :luck:

I bet he is back soon with that idiot. I reckon bide your time and just go in there and grab him. Poor you and Rolo. The trouble is, this guy will do it again with another Rolo so keep the RSPCA on side, they at least have the power to initiate prosecution! :(
