I'm a bit late in posting, but just wanted to say well done to all who went and thank you so much to everyone who made us feel welcome. It was really nice to meet everyone at Southern Counties and then again at NWA.

What a fantastic day on Sunday, we thoroughly enjoyed it. All those gorgeous whippets in one place.......

My only regret was that I went laden with cash and the stalls I expected weren't there :(

As an observer I was very proud and pleased when all the K9er's got placed, it was a shame that I didn't know all of them, but I'm sure this will come in time.

I do have to say a huge WELL DONE to Herbie the Gorgeous  (AKA Jasbri The Love Bug) he was looking beautiful as always, and such a good boy in the ring and got rewarded with that fantastic 1st. I nearly jumped out of my seat with excitement and think I was as proud as his mum was :b

Can't wait for the next show ( I might even remember to take the badge I pestered Judy for  )

Ozzy, I thought your bitch looked and went really well, I think she has really come on since I last saw her.

Can someone pop them up here - thanks!

RBIS Ruby Rascal

BP was the Shalfleet puppy

BV Barmoll Butterfly

Thanks Karen,

It was her first show since nursing her litter,I thought she went well....the litter certainly has done her good,if anything she's a little overweight now. We've entered her in a few shows coming up and got her pups out in August so will be a busy summer!!

I must Say Magic Silk is Looking promising...good luck with Polly :luck:

Is it usual for bitches to be at their best after having pups? A lot of people seem to say this of their bitches.

I was in a conflab about this the other day at a show. I dont really know much about this so i couldnt give an honest opinion and didnt want to offend anyone.

Is this the last extreme to get a bitch at her best or is it the norm?

2 breeders i were talking to were arguing about this and one was accused of kicking out litter after litter with different bitches just to get them 'right' without a thought of where the pups were going to! I know this is extreme and they were probably bitching about each others dogs.

Cant remember what breed they are, but they are of the small fluffy variety with a funny name!

On Lolocoe's Post just want to say we didn't mate May with her 'Condtion' in Mind...we wanted something to show and decided to Have a litter from her after much thought and consideration. Its just nice that after her litter she now looks better than ever.

I certainly wouldn't agree with mating a bitch just to gain better conditon on the Dam!

Oooops, sorry Ozzy, this is why i kept my mouth shut on Sunday. I wasnt meaning you as i know you carefully plan your litters to get dogs to show (and you certainly have achieved that  , still love Franky, will always be a favourite of mine  )

Its just someone made a comment to me and this discussion came up and it seems that some people do breed for this reason. All i wanted to know was do bitches condition improve after a litter or is it just a myth?

I felt like telling the person to bugger off and i'll breed if and when im ready, but i wasnt sure if it was a 'done' thing to do.

I've had that comment with Savannah - that if we decided to have a litter it would do her a world of good - spring her ribs out a bit more. I don't think it's meant (or at least hasn't been when said to me) as a 'you should breed your dog to get her in better condition', but more as a 'if you were planning on breeding her this would improve' type thing.

Wendy

Yeah i think thats what the comment meant, but its just 2 other people got into the conversation and they were accusing each other of breeding for condition only, it just set alarm bells ringing.

If you have a bitch that seems slow to mature a litter can help finish her but I cant see that more litters would make that much difference. It would never enter my head to have a litter just to get a bitch looking good for the shows. You would have to make sure you had the litter to coincide with favorable judges and shows (w00t) Blimey its hard enough as it is.

Teeni, Polly's mum was always a bit long and slab sided for me and having just Polly has given her more spring of rib and she looks beautiful now. All I have to do now is to get Mr Frodo in whelp :b

Lastly, a few years back I had a bitch that never lost weight after a litter so she was out of the ring for months.

Lolcoe, Im sure none of us thought you meant Ozzy or anyone else. :))

But if the judge likes the dog enough to award it the CC then it will win all the classes it is entered in.

Exactly my thoughts Beerhound!

(from a 'newer' exhibitor who has been showing from the age of 3 - 60 ;) )

i remember many moons ago putting a bitch into minor puppy ,puppy & novice won them all & got the c.c & got b.o.b :- " : . but i have not put a dog into more than 1 class since. :luck:
