from time to time I do web searches and put notices about sighthounds in Irish pounds and rescues up on the homes needed section. I know the new rescue has very small capacity, and many of the dogs listed are well cared for in rescue centres and foster homes so you'll want to concentrate on the more needy ones. I don't know what the situation is for dogs in Carrickmacross shelter, but you may want to look into this whippet cross, Nina, http://www.irishanimals.ie/ulster_homes.html

Hi Macha, yes we do want to concentrate on the whippets and whippet crosses that are in serious need. Nina is in carrick shelter, which means she is being cared for by them and will not get pts. They will spay her and find a home for her so she doesnt need our help. We do appreciate you keeping an eye out and if you do come accross a dog in a bad way or due to be pts do get in touch.
