Today is a rare beautiful day on the North coast, red hot and sunny - bliss. So we took the dogs to the woods where it was still quite muddy from all the rain and the pups were zooming around with their usual exuberance.
We met several people, most of them had dogs themselves and well used to them but then came this lady in white cropped trousers out for a Sunday stroll.
Yes you guessed it, Pax made a bee-line for her. I could see what was going to happen a mile away and was frantically calling him and racing to catch up and grab him. Unfortunately I am not as fast as a whippet and he leaped up at her and her trousers were just covered in mud.
I was babbling apologies but she didn't say a word, just glared at me as I pulled him off. I felt awful.
What should I do in these situations? I don't want to keep them on the lead when they are supposed to be out for a nice walk but sometimes you cant see people till they are almost on top of you. I definitely don't want a repeat of this though. Any thoughts?
