Think the biggest thing is racers attitudes, like people have said before some racers are all to quick to bitch and moan but never willing to help out, almost waiting to watch other fellow racers fall.

It is exactly as the topic title states, a hobby, it would be a must better sport if more people remembered that, and lost the win at all costs attitude, i have said it hundreds of times but my dad has always taught me in everything you win some you loose alot! And sometimes its better for all if you just bite your tongue and walk away (easier said than done, but every dog has its day).

I used to only have to fight with my mum about getting another dog, but cos of the attitudes and behaviour of people my dad doesnt want another one either.

Get back to racing our pets for fun! Cos lets face it theres not enough money or anything else in non ped racing to make a career out of it! I'd be glad to be racing any dog let alone a winner (w00t)

Wherever there's competition there's controversy it's a simple fact of human nature that even though some don't show it we all want to win.
Petty grudges are what really get me, you can see it in some peoples faces when they look at others in racing. Half look like they want to give someone a good smack given half the chance and the rest look terrified that someone wants to "do them in" over something so silly.

At the end of the day, we're all passionate about our sport and we all have differing opinions. What we all are guilty of a times is taking things completely out of context where our dogs are concerned, many are not prepared to listed to the opinions of fellow racers and remaining open minded, "it's my way or the highway".

The major flaw in the arguments in our sports in intolerance. Many are not interested in listening to fellow racers point of view and at least trying to understand their reasoning and the manner in which they have come to this conclusion. There are many fallacies in peoples reasoning but instead of trying to oppose these in a calm, grown up manner it all turns into back biting and petty sniping.

Our number one love is our dogs and we'd all do anything for them, but even down to dogs bumping on the tracks or accidents involving dogs some people have to get nasty and quite frankly silly about it. I think a little calm, some reasoning and a lot of maturity would go a long way in this sport.

Maybe it's not "the way it's always been" but then again I haven't always been able to drive but I learn't, for doG's sake we haven't always bought sliced bread but if we carried on the way it has "always been" then we'd be living in houses built out of cow sh*t and without experimentation the breed that we know and love as the "Non-Ped Whippet" would probably have never been invented.

Elise (aka Fleesh) who is fully of love for everyone,  :huggles:   :*   :huggles:   :* and might just run away and become a Hippy

As the saying goes, "Life is what you make it". If we all turned up to just one event with the frame of mind, "this is going to be a great, fun day no matter what !!", clapped, cheered and congratulated everyone right down to heat winners throughout the whole day then I'm sure the effort would rub off on fellow racers and we'd all have a brilliant day.

Lighten up guys :huggles: share some enthusiasm not criticism :D

Elise (aka Fleesh) who has a great big flowery hat heretofore to be referred to as the Hippy Bonnet  also owns a guitar and is willing to share a bit of Come by Yah with everyone :p .
