Thanks for your reply Sue thats about right with what i have been expecting i looked up healing times in the care of the racing greyhound book a lot depends on age and fixation methods but Barney has youth on his side and a good top class surgeon and his team so i have no worries ---what will be will be i suppose in the end ---

Hope you and John will be at the Derby this year along with those children of yours --looking forward to seeing you all again and Harry says he is coming in his own car this year--see you soon

Colt broke both bones just above the wrist, as he was only 5 monhs old, his leg grew (thank god) and now his plates are half way up his leg :) . I wont school any other pup I have till it's fully grown as I think we were lucky with Colt. Wee Ross wont run up the track till he's all grown up, in body not mind

You would never know'n that Colt had broken his leg,,it's heald so well. He wont race as I have decided not to get his plates removed, but if they give him any pain in the future , they will be removed then, and Colt will still be the clown :clown: :huggles: , of our house,,a pet only (maybe STUD in a few years time).

Im sure Barney will fully recover from his leg injury,,and will win races  It just takes time

All the best and we (family) should be at the English Derby this year,,if only just for a wee holiday

See ya soon

Harry coming in his own car  give yourself a day off Steve, get him to tow the caravan :sweating: .

At least I only have to tow the trailer-tent (w00t) .

Looking forward to seeing Barney on all fours minus pins whether he's ready for racing by Scotland or not :huggles: .

Just been thinking today about Barney and what has happened to him-

As i posted on here a few weeks ago-Barney broke his leg for the 2nd time.....He will be back at the vets in approx 5 weeks time at the earliest-no guarantee his fixture will be coming off then-that takes us into July/maybe August before he's without the fixture and then he will be on his lead for many more weeks.............

His original break was in January this year-

How must this be affecting him mentally? He's at peak learning age-he's 2 in September-but all he's being programmed to do is rest and lie down-

He automatically returns to his cage now after he's been out on the back yard-leashed for a wee etc.

He lies perfectly still on the settee in the evening-knowing he's not allowed to move very much-He's lifted onto and down from the settee-

Very sad isn't it?

If I was a dog psychologist I would be recommending therapy after all this upset to his young life?

Has anyone else had this kind of experience with an animal?
