Carry on loving him as normal....he is a lucky boy to have you, allowing him to go to the rainbow bridge with dignity.

I was in the same position just over a year ago, I was just so relieved to help my boy on his way to a place where he could run free again...and he went knowing just how much I loved him.

Try to think of the good times and how much fun you have had and if you hadn't had him in your life how empty it would of been :)

He is a beautiful boy. I'm so sorry to hear of his health, but am glad that he has a caring owner like you that can make good choices for his best.

so sorry , you must be feeling so sad. parker looks so lovely. ihave just lost a very special whippet to cancer at just 7 years old. when the time came my dad said to me to save your dog any distress is the one thing you can do for him that you cannot do for the human loved ones in your life. keep strong and remember "Through the sadness memories shine bright and beautiful" luv jan

good luck. it will be hard but as others have said remember the good times you have had, and know that you have gave him the best life he could have had :luck: :huggles:

thank you for your kind words everyone.

yeah it is sad and it's very very hard to deal with but for Parkers sake we have to try to be as normal as possible and just give the weeny man the best time possible.

I cried buckets over this when we first found out and for a while after his last fit he was a very troubled dog and extremely difficult to control and deal with.He settled a bit after two weeks and has gradually returned to normal apart from the regression to puppyhood.

I dread the day the fits start again and it will completely break my heart to say goodbye when the time comes but we have to face it,it's inevitable and we just have to do whats right for Parker.

I think life is crap right now and totally unfair but i guess the joy of having wonderful dogs has to have a down side at some point and ultimately we lose them all....i just never expected to lose Parker until he became a little chubby old man :(

How absolutely terrible for you :(

I used to live next door to a couple who had a similar problem with a collie cross. Ellie was a super dog, and they did wht they could. despite all of their efforts, the fits got worse and they had to make the same decision as you have. You are being kind to little Parker by not prolonging his life. It is by far the bravest and best thing for him. Being Christmas, the emotion that goes with the decision is hard. We had to do this with our dear cat 3 years ago a few days before Christmas, we had been lucky to have her for 14 years, but I knew the time was right.

Again I am so very sorry, life does seem particularly harsh at times..........My advice is to be grateful for the joy of those four years, and the penalty is the pain which will ease eventually.

So very sorry to hear your sad news :(

i cant add anything more to whats allready been said except to say i truly do feel for you and send you my deepest sympathies. :huggles:

So sorry about your sad news - i hope Parker has a good Christmas.

Im really sorry to hear about Parker, he looks a grand chap :huggles:

Treasure these times with him and i hope he enjoys his Christmas - spoil him rotten and let him have the best bits of the turkey! :)

SO sorry to read about Parker so young for such a sad thing to happen to him. I guess the only comfort is that he has no idea of what is ahead of him - you have to suffer that for him - and he he will enjoy his last few weeks being spoiled rotten :)) . I hope you can get some pleasure in your last Christmas with him.

We have a sick KC spaniel (the one who thinks she is a whippet) with bad heart disease and the vet has given Rosie only a few weeks too, so I know how you must be feeling. Do you have any other dogs?

Bless little Parker (and Rosie^^) and I hope you can enjoy, as far as possible, the remaining time you have with your dogs.

Even though you know you have made the right decision it doesn't make life easier ... thinking of you. and your dogs don't know what the future holds for them, so they will not have the sadness you have.

So sorry to hear your sad news :(

I'm sure Parker will have a wonderful Christmas :)

:( :( Such sad news. I hope you manage to have a fairly good Christmas, Parker will enjoy all the fuss without knowing anything is wrong. We lost a cat one year on Christmas Eve & the next year had to say goodbye to our dog one week before Christmas. Sometimes life is really **** but the good memories make it bearable :)

Love to you & Parker

Julie.
