Peggy had her toe amputated 10 days ago and eventually had her dressing off today...But shes desperatly to lick it but shes not allowed so i had to put her 'collar' on or it was the muzzle...she seems to cope ok with in atm but as her other hind is her weakest she does struggle as times with balance...gotta take her back next wed as my vet was on holiday and he would wanna see her

I hope Peggy  recovers quickly Jayne, and regains her balance :)

She has the look of humiliation :b on her pretty face wearing that collar  :p

Bless her.

Big hugs to her as she looks so sorry for herself.

xxx

All the best for Peggy and a speedy recover, she looks like a lovely girl with a nice clean missing toe!

Good luck with the healing :D

Thanks for the kind replies...she hates the collar on But i cant allow her to lick it as there are still tiny stitches still on...mentally she thinks she can do everything BUT she cant

It does look abit odd though

I'm sure you'll get used to it quick enough Jayne and the foot will change a little as it gets used to its new shape, it does look nice and clean though xxx

Your vet has done a very neat job for Peggy.

I can understand why her balance is a bit squiffy - an outside toe takes so much of the weight.

Give her a hug from me, she reminds me so much of my Jinny

Awww bless her brave girl, she is definatley trying to make sure you feel guilty about the collar looking glum like that o:) they do know how to play us don't they   hope it heals quickly and she's back to normalreally soon :luck: :luck: :luck:

Poor old Peggy, hope she is coping ok

Looks like they've done a really neat job there. :luck: :luck: with her healing :)

That is looking quite good Jane....Good luck to Peggy :luck: Im sure she will hardly notice its gone soon... :huggles:

my vert first whippet had half a toe removed when she jumped a claw... she was fine.

Doesn't she look so 'hang dog' in her lampshade. Lovely clean, neat job by your vet though. They do cope really well with amputations - far better than us wimpy humans. Good luck to her. :)

Poor Peggy with her lampshade. Glad to see the toe's healing well. Do perservere with the lampshade though, as you say. Fred managed to undo all his stictches on a leg wound where he had a lump removed, and it took six weeks to heal (with daily bandage changes (w00t) ) rather than the week or two. Unfortunately I wasn't issued with a lampshade at the time, and by the time I managed to get hold of one it was too late. He'd undone all attempts at bandages and licked open all his stitches.

Aww poor Peggy she looks really sorry for herself. I hope she has a speedy recovery :huggles:

So glad that Peggy is over the worst now Jayne, - they all hate lampshades!

Hope everything goes well and she makes a speedy recovery. :huggles: to both of you.

Awwwwwww!!!! What a sweetheart  Hope she is feeling better soon :luck:

What a sweetie, Bless.

Awwww bless her  Hope she mends quickly :huggles: :luck: :luck:

Thanks :)

Shes doing really well appart from loosing her balance on un even ground as the leg with the toe off was her stronger one..i took the lampshade off as she really didnt like it ..i tried to put an old sock on and vet wrapped at the top but she soon had that off...She licked it for a bit, but now she seems to leave it alone...shes still not allowed to free walk/run so always on the lead..but we dont walk her as much now, she cant cope with it even before she had problems with her toe

shes gettin used being left while i take Bow out

That's good that she is leaving it alone. Sometimes the lampshades can be a nightmare and cause more stress :(
