Picco has a lump on his side :( its appeared overnight, it doesn't seem to be hurting him as he'll let us have a good feel of it.

Its about halfway along his ribcage and just below the muscle line along his ribs if that makes sense :b

If you imagine a Cadbury's cream egg cut in half along its length thats what it looks like

It feels like a pocket of liquid and we're not sure but it looks like there might be a little scratch in his skin at the top of it  but that could be completely unrelated

We'll take him to the vets tomorrow morning but I just wondered what you lot think it might be

Cheers

Steve

p.s I'll get a pic of it later

Could be a number of things but sometimes they can get a haematoma which is a pocket of blood or bruising, or a seroma which is full of serum instead - maybe he knocked into something while you were out.

Anyway, you are doing the right thing to get the vet to look at it tomorrow, but usually they are not serious.

Get well soon Picco. :huggles: :luck:

and how cool is your signature Picture Steve.

:( Awww poor Picco :(

Im sure it will be a harmless tissue lump :D

My bitch years ago, she had one on her head. The vet was going to operate on her, but over a few day's it went down, so he left it. She was fine :))

good luck at the vets hope picco is ok! :luck: :luck: :luck:

Ditto!!

Django had one in exactly the same place, my Vet started worrying that it was a mast cell tumour and I was just feeling it one morning and it went POP! (inside his skin, nothing to see on the exterior) and it just gradually vanished never to return so I think it was a seroma as the haematomas my dogs have had (apart from those on the Cockers' ear flaps) have all been hard lumps rather than fluid filled.

Thanks for the replies everyone :) well we took Picco to the vets tonight and to be honest I wish we hadn't bothered

We were in there 3 minutes at most and all the vet did was poke the lump once and repeat everything we said to her that you lot had told us on here

I know she couldn't have done much more, but it does grate a bit when your charged £42.80 for Frontline and one prod of a lump  but then again my wife is always telling me I'm getting more tight fisted as I get older :- " so perhaps its just me :D

Cheers

Steve

p.s my signature would be much cooler if my camper wasn't broken down outside the vets at this very moment  but its nothing serious and I do know whats wrong :D

Sorry I missed this, poor Picco, being podded and poked :(

Please give him a cuddle from me

Glad you've got the camper situation under control :- "

just glad it wasn't serious and Picco is okay
I know and thats all that matters really

But I was in such a bad mood last night  I'm not used to breaking down anymore I've had new cars for too long :D so it was a bit of a shock to the system :b and now the vets bill seems miniscule compared to the part I've just priced for the camper to get it going again (w00t)

Cheers

Steve
