Hello everyone I hope you don't mind but i wanted to show you all the rocking horse i made. He is called Banjo, and he was made by me three years ago. I'm very proud of him (and myself), it took me 11 months to carve, I also made the swinger stand. He has got teeth and a tongue, he has a real horsehair mane and tail (w00t) and no i won't be making any more!

Thanks all, I was poorly a few years ago and waiting for a heart opp, my nerves where in bits so my doctor advised doing something to take my mind off my problems.At about the same time we were told we were going to be grandparents for the first time,we looked around for a rocking horse but the prices were out of our league so a place in eaglescliffe (Preston Hall) has a course. I went on it and did it never thought I could :lol:

Wow, this takes me back, I had an almost identical one as a child!

You are extremely talented, thats a beautiful rocking horse.
 
Oh my gosh, he's wonderful! Well done you!

Ive always said that if i won the lottery Id collect traditional rocking horses. I have an absolute passion for them.

Im sure he will give some lucky children many years of fun, imaginings and dreams.

Thanks,thats what we thought, there is a compartment inside of him with info about when,why it was made, who made it and who it was made for,sort of a time capsual.He should last 200 years.Its quite weird knowing that when it is read we won't be here. :cheers:

wow youve certainly put alot of thought into making him :thumbsup: ive been doing my family tree for the last 3 years now and if i had/found something like that what my ancestors had made ,i would be more than delighted :thumbsup:

i just think its a fantastic piece for your family,just hope they dont fight over it in years to come :b
