nina, I can understand why you always look so smart :*

but I just don't think I've got it in me to 'dress to impress'

I'm more 'Do I need to iron it?' if the answer is yes, then it goes back in the cupboard and something less creasey comes out instead

Jan, I've spent more than one night in your house cos of dog shows

Yeah, i can live with that .................HATE IRONING ME

But those crusty boots & leggings will haunt me to my dying day so i now look for the "creaseless" range that does NOT need ironing :p

Alison, there seems to be a scenario you have omitted here :- "

We've been through peeing, pooing and vomiting on himself, but what if he eats something vile and throws up in front of, or worse still....ON THE JUDGE?? :x Unlikely, but stranger things have happened....

Do you want to come here first, and I'll drive so you don't have to worry about finding the venue? One less thing to stress about... :- "

Don't worry, YOU will be fine, MONTY will be fine, and if you need any help on the day, you only have to ask a k9er!

Showing puppies is great fun, just enjoy it! 8)

Good luck for Saturday :luck:

Liz and the Monellis

When Irene had her first Bluestreak Whippet I used to take her (Pebble the whippet) to Scotland on my own. Now I get to take Irene too!

She calls these trips "adventures".

Last year at the Hound ass of Scotland we broke down as we left the ground and spent a few unplanned days in Kelso, B and B hopping as the racing was on and we couldn't get rooms for more than 24 hours. I ran all over Kelso trying to find a mechanic late on Saturday night and eventually located one through a lovely man in a pub. On Monday morning he despatched one of his clients to get the spare part from Edinburgh.

It was an unplanned break made bearable by our new champion. Not sure how great I would have felt about the long trip without that bonus, not to mention the car repair bill.

Coming next .......Karen's Karavan at the American National....by Karen (hint hint) who is a much better writer than me, let me give you a taster, she went with a litter of puppies to a 6 day show!

I will supply the pyjama picures.

I'm hoping that the judge is experienced and kind hearted enough to not take it personally if he does :- " :luck:

thanks for offer of going to yours first, but in the 10 years or more that I've been visiting your neck of the woods, I've got lost and been late more times than I care to remember   Ask your mate, she'll confirm that for sure ;)

Just  one more Alison,
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT DAY AND DATE.

In the past (long past) I've turned up on the wrong day, luckily it

was one day early, so \I was able to go the next day.

Good luck on SATURDAY 7th APRIL AT THE SPORTS CONNECTION,

                                                        rYTON ON DUNSMORE

Irene.

 I have done that too.

What else can go wrong ? There is also the person who has lot of dogs, and on some occasions brought the wrong ones.

When I started showing, back in the dark ages when lady exhibitors wore usually frocks in the ring, there was a story going around about a well-known lady exhibitor who ran around the ring at top speed when a pair of huge pink bloomers fell to her ankles. She stopped picked, them up and gracefully stuffed them into her cleavage, and continued on winning the large class.

Cathie's right, never a dull moment going to a show with her.

In the past we have called at Ikea to look for a bed for Sam.

Called at the Metro Centre in Newcastle on Tyne for a show outfit.

Called at a Garden Centre when taking a dog to be mated.

etc. etc.

And I've loved every minute.

Irene.

:huggles: Had a great grooming session with the whipps last night in preparation for Saturday. I thought I was doing a great job until my daughter walked in and said " whats this - Pimp my Pup " !! Dont you just Love teenagers !!

Alison, with the weather so changeable at the moment you should also be worrying about what to wear. It could turn cold and you wouldn't want to be shivering, that would add to the shaking with nerves. :p On the other hand, it could be hot and you don't want to be sweating with heat as well as nerves! (w00t) Maybe you could wear layers. Thermal vest ( for the cold) with T-shirt over that ( in case of heat). Jumper over that ( cold) with lightweight jacket ( heat) for smartness. Then you could wear thick trousers with a skirt over that ( very "in").

Has there ever been a more hotly-anticipated debut? :teehee:

The eyes of all Whippetdom are upon you and Monty, eagerly awaiting to hear if all went smoothly, but hey, don't worry. No pressure. Just because his fans all over the world are waiting to hear about him, don't let that make you nervous or anything like that.

  :p Don't worry Alison I definitely won't have my camera with me :- " :- "

I've had a dog stop to poo in the ring, I've tripped over my own feet, I've not been able to see where I was going because of my long hair, I'm rarely able to eat until I've been in the ring, I've forgotton my ring clip, I've lost my number and last Saturday I forgot to change and ended up in the ring wearing my grubby old jeans.

You gotta love it!!! Oh, and one of my whippets once wet-sneezed on the judge (w00t) (That was priceless  ... and no we didn't win that class  :D )

Best of :luck: :luck: :luck: doris - YOU'll be absolutely fine and Monty will be a complete star (and you get to take the best dog home :huggles: :* )

I'm in stitches reading this lot!!

oh no, actually its hysterics!

I was fine yesterday, was getting quite chilled about it all 8)

but now . . . . well, I had horrible hospital appointment this morning that I was trying to put to the back of my mind  , my new gold car (bought specially to take Monty to dog shows :- " ) won't be ready til after 4pm  the director of the company I'd sent my CV too has emailed me to say that she's reading it today and will be in touch :sweating:

add that to all the posts about clothes, shoes, poo, wee, wet sneezes, wrong dogs, wrong days, wrong venues, freak weather conditions and underwear and now I'm getting a bit :ermm: again!!

and thats without considering the main man Monty, who is a bit skinny, too hairy and has the potential the go in the ring being lightly annointed in dog sick or fox poo :x Jax was right, not many mountain herbs and flowers and spring water round here

but as a lovely lady sent me a message to say, a puppy should look and act like a puppy, and there is no doubt that Monty does that :huggles:

i think one of the most embarrassing things that ever happened to me at a show was when i was moving my dobermann and as i ran up and down id forgotten where the ropes were and ran headfirst into them, the rope hit me in the neck,i went down like a sack of spuds and the dog ran off(obviously too embarrased to be seen with mum!) :b

still not to worry,no pressure Doris.

Kris, that is just too funny/horrific

I've just spoken to a lovely lady called Mary, she assures me that we are entered, so all I gotta do is worry about everything else :- "

Talking about going to shows on the wrong date s, :- "

Mollee has qualified for the `super Match` representing my local ring-craft in Veteran :D Now I was convinced it was 14th April , So much so that I even got an extra ticket for my step daughter to come as its the weekend she stays with us , and its an `evening do` Vanessa the sec rang to say shed got me the extra ticket and I said Id pick it up next Tuesday at ring-craft , but its this Saturday (w00t) she said

So hopefully I will be back home in time to change into my `glad rags ` and get to the `do` for 6 pm  It will be a long day for Mollee as shes entered at the Whippet club show , but she loves showing and can have lots of sleep in between . and then a long rest ;)

If I hadn't needed that extra ticket id have been going the following Saturday ...........and been all alone   :- "

I did that quite recently, can't remember quite when, I thought it was rather funny myself even though I did look a total idiot. Dog didn't run away in my case.
