:luck: :luck: Best of to all K9ers and Alison and Monty :) Have a great day

Speaking of dogs running off in the ring has just reminded me of something Alice did a few years back o:)

Jo was showing her as I was unable to attend the show, and she slipped her lead and ran off into the next ring where the Japanese Chins were lined up waiting for the judge to award the CC. She worked her way along the line up, goosing and bouncing each dog in turn, and generally wreaking havoc  until Jo managed to catch up with her and get her back on the lead. The exhibitors were definitely NOT amused... :- "

As she was leaving the ring, the judge called across to Jo, 'she would have been my ticket winner madam, but she's just a bit short of coat!' (w00t)

I'm glad I wasn't there, I would have DIED of embarrassment...

What's even worse is, she wasn't even a puppy then, she should have known better! o:)

I bet Monty isn't the worst behaved puppy there- there's always somebody worse! :luck:

Liz and the Monellis

Well, at least you guys in the UK don't worry much about bait. My most embarrassing memory is when I went into a ring with a lot of cat treats in my pocket and didn't realize my skirt pocket lining had a hole in it (Whippets have a way of chewing holes in your pocket lining if they are liver-scented without actually destroying the skirt) and I left a trail of "Pounce" cat treats all the way around the ring when I did my first circuit. It was like Hansel and Gretal with their bread crumbs they left to find their way back home through the forest...the dogs behind me were all diving and scarfing up the dribble of treats in my wake.

I arrived at my destination, stacked up my dog, only to be confronted by an angry judge with a handful of half-eaten, drool-sodden treats saying "Madame, are THESE YOURS???".

I wanted to DIE.

The other bad show was back in the early 1980's when we still wore the "wraparound skirt" in the USA and I showed my nice bitch at an outdoor show where gale-force wins blew up during the afternoon judging. I was so busy trying to hold the flap in my skirt closed against the wind that I ran myself and my dog right into the ring gates, fell over them, and displayed my floral panties (knickers) to the judge. Some other exhibitor said, "well, now after that, he HAS to put her up". Sadly, I still lost. I don't know what's more shameful: showing your panties to the judge, or having the judge see your panties and then dump you.

You'll be fine with Monty. No pressure.

Everyone will just be hanging out back here waiting to hear the news of Monty's first show.

But, it's cool. Don't worry. Just because we're all living vicariously on Saturday through Monty's show debut does NOT mean you should be the least bit nervous or anxious.

I've just remembered; at SKC last year we were in a ring under the marquee tent. The pole was in our ring and just as Zoomie went past it on his 'triangle' he stopped for a pee on it :b !!!!!!

I've been concentrating on the dog so much I've run into the tape round the ring as well

We went to a show today just to look, and we wittnessed the embarassing moment of the century. Almost grown up "puppy" of a giant breed made it to the centre of the ring, when she decided she wants her tummy scratched and promptly rolled over :b (w00t) They tried to reason with her, they tried to pull the leash, then they tried to lift the front, then the rear, and in the end the handler took the front and the ring steward the rear and carried her out of the ring to a thunderous applaus

ah, thanks for asking :) he did really well :huggles:

we were out in the first cut :( but we're not too disappointed, there was lots of strong competition in our class of 15!!!

but he did a great job, wasn't fazed by it or by his nervous mum on the other end of the lead :sweating:

its all here if you haven't seen it yet

I am proud of you and Monty--sounds like you did a great job showing him and he was very well-behaved.

I'm sure the cards will start falling his way soon.

WELL DONE DORIS AND THE LOVELY MONTY

Thank Heaven I didn't see a thread like this one before January, I wouldn't have gone to our one and only show ever. If it's any consolation I was so nervous I was physically sick, fortunately after we got home and not actually on the judge. I'm sure you're made of sterner stuff, sounds like Monty coped very well. Goodluck for the next one. :luck: :huggles:
