After a particularly wild play session out in the garden with Phoebe when they were chasing and ambushing each other (w00t) Skye came in limping :( . I checked her all over and there are no wounds so it appears to be a muscle or something internal :( . Thought it was a front leg at first but now when I run my fingers over her back legs she fidgets when massage her left thigh and it seems to be a bit enlarged compared to the other one.

This happened on Monday evening so I thought best to leave it for 24 hours as it wasn't bothering her to see if it would improve, well it has but she is still limping slightly, worse when gets up from being asleep :( . What do you think I should do, could the vet do anything for her or will it heal on its own ?

I am trying to limit her play sessions and am not walking her but complete rest is proving to be impossible with a 13 week old pup (w00t)

I'd take her to the vets, you cannot be too careful with a baby of that age, if it hasn't cleared up in 24 hours she needs to get it checked

r+s have hurt their legs a few times but usualy walk it of and its fine within a few mins/hours, but i think if it was a day later and still limping id be of to the vets :b

really hope skye feels better, ruby and star send her big :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

if you are at all worried take the little one to the vets - i have lost count of how much money i have spent taking my lot to the vets and being told that they are o.k -but it is worth it just for peace of mind

 Me too  . I was trying to avoid the £30 'she's fine' routine but was thinking I'd better take her. However, I'm glad to say that Skye is now 99% better so I'm not worried it's anything nasty now :) . Will just watch her closely over the next couple of days in case it gets any worse again or that last 1% doesn't improve.

We are due at the vets tomorrow for puppy training so if she's not 100% I can get some advice then

Hope 'Skye is feeling better soon.. :huggles: :luck:

Gosh £30 is steep....our vet is £17 for a consultation then drugs obviously extra.

puppy classes are great - all that free advice and a weekly health check and your pup comes home exhausted!

glad puppers is on the mend x

Sounds like a pulled thigh muscle or strain - probably just one of those things that takes a few days to heal - probably best to assess in these situations and take to the vets only of things dont improve or get worse after a few days.

You get a feel for when vets are needed straight away or whether assesment is best first with experience with Whippys - hope she is 100% soon.

I would wait at least 24 hours if she seems a bit better. Bridget once jumped out of my arms and was limping badly. I rushed her to the vet, paid the extortionate fee for anti-inflamatorys etc and an hour after we got back she was racing around like a maniac.

Our whippys have banged their legs running about but are always fine afterwards.
