I don't know if this bothers any of you, but when I go for a dog walk I like to be out in the FRESH air. More and more I am noticing people going for a walk in lovely countryside only to be SMOKING. It is horrible to walk behind these people as the air absolutely stinks. I dread to think what the smoke does for their dogs.

Wondered if the new non-smoking laws will protect the air on dog walks?

im sure the new smoking laws will let you smoke outside, if i have got it right, you have to go outside the building/pubs etc to have a fag......so smoking outside will be allowed.

im guessing there will be a time when you cant smoke in public, not sure if/when they will do this, i think some parts of the uk already do this.

im not sure how smoking outside can be that much of a bad thing.....just walk a bit further away? :D

im NOT a smoker BTW o:) its just that walking in the open air is going to be one of the only places people CAN smoke and you never know some peoples dogs may get more walks because of it (w00t) :p

im a smoker (for my sins :b ) but i dont think it looks nice for a lady ( (w00t) yeah right) to walk around with a fag in the hand, i have a ciggie in my garden, as i dont smoke in the house.

I also dont like to sit in restarant and have people smoking on the next table to me (i wait until i go home)...so i do think its a good idea that peple have to go outside!!!

I haven't had a smoke for 17 months :)

I agree people who have just had one stink but if they are smoking i

still like the smell of the ciggie, so i tend to take deep breaths around

smokers

Don't get me started!!

A few weeks ago we went to Sherwood Forest for a lovely day walking the dogs with the kids running around playing Robin hood  Decided to have lunch at the cafe, had the dogs so must eat outside on the terrace. Lovely...until, would you believe.. all the bloody smokers come outside too  2 on the table one side and 1 on the other side, just as our food arrived.. off they puffed :x :x ..and which way does it drift???? yeah, right over and onto me and my children  How bloody disrespectful!!!

At the point of consumption smoking is the most anti-social drug there is, all the others do not directly effect anyone other than the user. So whatever rights the smokers think they have in public when smoking, non-smokers have more as they are not in any way negatively effecting the health of the smoker.

Going slightly off-topic ... I'm not a smoker (altho I tried it for a few weeks when I was 16, but that was hundreds of years ago, LOL) ... but where will the government get all its money if more or less everyone gives up smoking?

If they lose all the money they get from the tax that is slapped on the price of a pack of ciggies ... Hmmmmmmmm ... I wonder!! (quick everyone - go and look in the mirror!). :- " :- "

And no I'm not defending smoking, but it is a point that interests me.

If absolutely no-one smoked all the money from tax that the government would lose would be equalled by not having to treat all the smoke induced ill health !

the same goes for all other alcohol/drug induced ill health that has to be treated on the overstretched and often abused NHS

My OH sometimes smokes on walks (this is when he is smoking - he is a yo yo smoker - gives up starts again, gives up starts again  ), however, we usually walk in very isolated places and I NEVER let him drop his cig butts on the ground, I hate that

Also, when he wants to smoke at home he goes outside and shuts the door so me and the dogs don't have to suffer as well. unsuprisingly, he tends to give up in the winter months :D

really winds up  but what makes me even madder is to see people on horses smoking

Sorry its off topic but, talking about overstretched and often abused NHS. Has anybody heard about Leslie Ash (Men Behaving Badly star) sueing the NHS? i no she got MRSA, but what exactly does she think she will acheive by sueing them, surely it will make it worse for other ppl? Also doesn't she have enough money? Thats just my opinion though. Rant over :b
