Hi Everyone. I have some pics of Solo trialling at Newmarket yesterday. He has shown himself to be a very difficult boy with racing. In fact he has not taken to it very well at all. He doesn't respond on a straight and has had a go at others on occasions. Yesterday, running with Mister Millichip he had a go at him and he will not be progressed on a straight ever again. Some better news however comes from his bend racing where, at Bourne End he has aquitted himself quite well. If he is to make it as a racer, it will be on bends. He has had the support of several people over time who are well experienced in the sport so he has not been short of encouragement. We love him of course, come what may :blink:

Sorry to hear that Solo has given you a "nobble 'em problem" !!!

It's probable that with more to think about on the bend he hasn't the time to think about his opponents, and with enough racing, he may even forget about doing it on the the straight as well

And it may be timely to remind you about my Lisa (New Lisa Life) who's first competitive race took place 4 weeks before her SIXTH birthday due entirely to my inability to clear her. I made a pact with her that if she could do three clear trials I would put her in the racing proper. It never happened - some dogs just can't be reasoned with But with maturity came some sense, albeit too late for her to have any youthful racing, but she has been a great veteran - and proved to be bomb-proof when training puppies :sweating:

Good luck with the lad anyway - and HE will enjoy whatever you give him to do

Hi Chris, I agree with Ian, many a dog has been straightened out by bend racing so you might make a straight racer of him yet. :thumbsup:

Glad he's enjoying the bends and hopefully the straights will come for him as he becomes more and more focused on the lure and less on his opponents. It's good to hear positive stuff from experienced racers.

As others have said, he's young yet, Chris, time and experience may well see him becoming a straight racer in the future :luck:

I agree with the others, don't give up just yet. My old boy Jools (Xcite) didn't clear until his 2nd birthday but when the penny dropped eventually that the lure was THE most important thing in the world, he was straight , true and bombproof. He even acted as the solid rock that other naughty youngsters bounced off, straightening them out in the process!
