:( was on my way to work this morning and witnessed the car behind me run over a little old sheep dog so i got out of the car to help and she just reversed her car and took off down a side street ..leaving this poor dog in the middle of the road so i took the dog to my vets but sadly he was put to sleep an hour later because of his injurys ..now im not judging the person for running the dog over as i know it can happen so quick when a dog just runs out in front of you but what sort of person just leaves a dog for dead .i hope she has plenty of sleepless nights  im so upset by this the poor little mites face when i put him in my car it was heart breaking :(

that must have been so aweful for you, thankfully for that little dog there are kind people like you.

R.I.P. little one

Oh my God thats horrendous  callous bitch!!! Do you remember what type of car it was and was it in an area where they have cctv?

Poor dog RIP

Nicky, how awful you had to go through this :huggles:

RIP little man :(

:( so sorry to hear this. What disgusting behaviour. I'm a strong believer in 'what goes around, comes around' so I have no doubt she'll get some sort of misfortune in return

just wanted to add that you were a hero, Nicky

RIP little dog.

Good on you Nicky for stopping and helping the poor dog.

poor little sole I thought you had to report if you hit a dog

This post has upset me so much , especially after my post about bessie being run over and having to be put to sleep. The van driver that run over bessie was and still is in total shock and absolutely distraught about what happened even though it was not his fault. He drove terry ( bessies owner ) and bessie straight to the vets, then waited all the time wuth terry , then took terry to hospital accident and emergency because terry needed stitches in his hands and face because bessie had bitten him in her distress/shock then took terry back to the vets to be with bessie and waited again untill terry left to go home , then offerec to take terry again to the vets the following day . He himself was in a terrible state but still thought of tery and bessie . He was an absolute strength to terry and did not run away. People that do this running away from responsibility make me so angry.

Poor dog. but bless you for your humanity .

Did you manage to contact/find the owners of the poor little mite

Once agiain bless you

i thought it was ilegal to leave the scene of an accident without reporting it to the police, but im not sure you have to report it if it involves an animal and not a person.imho it ought to be cos i always think of the poor owner who would be searching everywhere for their pet without knowing its been run over. :( may your kindness and compassion be returned a hundredfold, :luck:  and may this callous womans lack of it come back to her too

just a little update the dog was chipped and owerners found ...so at least they know what happend ...as for the women she was driving a ka but didnt get her reg number as i was more concerned with the dog and no cctv around ther which is a shame .sum people just dont care im glad i comforted the dog a bit before he was put to sleep and he didnt die somwer on his own ..RIP my little friend ...now and again somone specail touches your heart and this little dog touched mine today :(

 heartless bitch!!!

good on you though for taking the time to help the poor little mite! :huggles:

maybe keep an eye out to see if she makes the same journey daily? worth reporting to the police as im sure you do have to report a dog but not a cat?

RIP little one :(

well done nicky, youve got a heart of gold, and it does make you wonder how people can just carry on with their lives knowing theyve done something like that.

What a good job you were there to help the poor dog. I hope that woman gets what she deserves for driving off

This morning a dog shot across the road infront of me & luckily I had time to stop, although I probably shook the driver behind me up a bit

The dog came from the direction of a park & went down a side street onto a housing estate so probably a "latch key dog" out for his morning walk.

I felt shook up even tho I didn't hit it but how anyone could drive off is beyond me

RIP little doggy

Posh Totty is right in saying that all accidents involving dogs should be reported ! not only did this female driver do something illegal, she was totally out of order, selfish, callous & heartless too. nice one nicky for staying with the poor wee man, R.I.P little fella. I sure hope a bystander noted her registration number & that she's found. cheryl.

well done for stopping and helping the dog :huggles:

i really hope the person who hit the dog is caught

Well done Nicky for just being there :) but poor dog ... :( RIP

some people are so callous

I once had to sit with a dog, many years ago that had been hit by a car, till the vet arrived - it died too - it was a terrible experience. :( the driver had stopped in this case.

I work on a busy road (from the counter you can easily see the road) and last year I *think* it was three dogs that got ran over while i was working (i only work saturdays for 4-6 hours anyway!) not one of the drivers stopped and one was a PMT bus! Luckily teh RSPCA is literal just down the road and all three times my auntie (also works at the same shop) has taken the dogs to the vets. One of them turned out to be a old mans dog who had gotten out of the gate when he returned from taking his cat to the vets and he was thrilled to have his dog back (he survived) and even came to thank my auntie and invited her around for a cup of tea. The other two i dont know what happened to but i *think* if i remember correctly atleast one of the other two survived.

My aunties ex-cat also got ran over on the same road (when i say ex-cat i mean she split up with her long term partner and he kept the cats)but it took them weeks to even find out no-body had bothered helping and was left until someone (cant remember the proper name for the people) came to scrap the body up but they hadnt recorded it properly and they didnt find out for ages!

people are so selfish just driving off and leaving them someone should do the same to them

I don't think I'd get away with the language I'd like to use about the driver.

I'm so sorry he didn't make it. At least he had someone who cared enough to try to help, it must have been a very distressing experience for you.

Poor dog :(
