Finally, I can't resist adding a view of the Cuillins on Skye on our return journey home. This was the view from our lunch spot :teehee:

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :huggles: I feel as chilled as anything looking at these pics  I've only been up as far as Oban and really want to explore more of Scotland  The croft looks heavenly.....I'd not want to leave!!!

What's it like for dog walking? Would we be okay to take Tina? It looks like there's a few sheep & highland cattle dotted around so I'd probably have to keep her on her long line around them but those loooong beaches look perfect for her to have a good gallop :D

I know....so many questions (w00t) But it just looks GORGEOUS and the perfect holiday!!!!   Bet you are completely chilled out now

We didn't take the dogs...our rule is one UK holiday with dogs and one without. I do get to practice my photography more without them I must confess...although I do miss them. It's quite a long journey, but if your dogs are fine with travelling then I'm sure a lot of places on the islands would accept dogs. Loads of sheep and cattle and nesting birds, oh yes and deer on the hillier parts...dogs would have to be trained around livestock and not disturb wildlife. The beaches are lovely but sheep will be grazing nearby. It can be very cold and windy...we were very lucky with the weather this year. The rest of the island is almost very bleak...but I love the contrasts...

Ohhhhhhhhhh [big sigh] How wonderful and beautiful :) Where in the world could possibly be more beautiful ;)

I would never get sick of seeing such beautiful views...except that I am sick as a parrot that it isn't me there. :(

Those photos are fantastic Nicola and really make me want to go up to the Western Isles again. Those beaches are so amazing. Have you done something to that first photo? It looks just like one of those that that photographer who came to Camera Club showed us - a bit like a pastel painting. I can't choose a favourite out of those - they're all so good - but I do rather like the one of the rowing boat on its own.

It looks a bit too isolated for me though and it would be a disaster for the whippets - they'd run straight down the garden and off the cliff into the sea! (w00t)

Can't wait for our holiday next week now! :D Thanks for those Nicola, well worth waiting for.

I hadn't thought about that..but yes...Jonah would have been swimming with the seals in no time

OMG That looks like paradise! We are going to have to go there, it is just so remote and beautiful. :)

can i just say what absolutely stunning photo's! :D it looks such a beautiful and tranquil place to be, ive never been to scotland even! :b why would people want to live abroad when we have such beauty in this country :huggles:

Amazing photos, Nicola. What a stunning place to stay.  I really love the beach photos at sunset.

I agree with everyone, they are really brilliant photos, much better than some postcard views.

I love the silhouette beach scenes, very restful -_-

It looks such a peaceful place. I'm glad you had a good holiday but I bet you were glad to get back home to your boys

 Absolutely wonderful photos, Nicola, and I quite agree, who needs the Carribean when the weather is good in Scotland. Some of my best childhood memories are playing on deserted whte sandy beaches on the north coast.

Can't wait now till late July when we are off to the Ardnamurchan peninsula, and we will be exploring Mull and other islands too. Also staying the Lakes for a couple of days on the way up, and coming home via Edinburgh, Northumerland, Durham and Yorkshire. :) It's a proper road trip, so we won't be taking Zephyr as there would be too much time in the car and it's just not safe, so that's a shame. :( But he gets to stay with some gorgeous whippet girls, so I don't think he'll really mind that much! :*

Lovely pix

Its like Donegal in Ireland :D

Deirdre :))

Wow Nicola, some very impressive pictures there  Makes me want to go there :)

Glad you had a good holiday

beautifull photos nicola , what an amazing place to stay , again a little too isolated for a whimp like me lol but amazing scenery .

no wonder you looked so chilled on friday :D nice to see you again BTW

Thank you for your lovely comments. :teehee: It makes it all worthwhile slaving over a hot computer cloning out dust specs on every photo (w00t) .

Our cottage was very remote, on single track roads, where you can only drive around at 20-30 miles an hour, if you're lucky, in case a local comes hurtling the other way over one of the many blind summits. We were right next to the sea, and no enclosed garden , so it wouldn't have been dog friendly really. We would have been better off picking somewhere to stay on the beachy side, but everything affordable was fully booked, even as far back as five months ago.

It was lovely getting back home to the dogs and the leafy green of Derbyshire. Harris was stunning but I wouldn't want to live there. Very few trees survive on the island because of the wind. The locals are still very religious and won't partake in any activities on a Sunday (no games, hanging out washing...you name it...I actually approve of the no shops open bit etc). They ask visitors to respect their Sunday rules too.

It's a wonderful place if you love walking, wildlife and outdoor pursuits, and seeing how people used to live on the island. There is little else there (didn't see a single pub! ). Those beaches though.....those turquoise seas and white sands are for real! Stunning.

what a beautiful place, youve captured some fantastic sights and given us a good insight of the place

love the ones with your OH on the beach at sunset.............beautiful :)
