AWWW look at her poor little face :(

Her face is adroable though.. :huggles: albeit sad :( :(

Katie I just love her dark mask...she is beautiful...her and Sapphire were my favourites out of the girls...

So glad she didnt seem troubled by what happened later on her walk and passing the lab, you must try not to tense up on the end of the lead though, because they seem to sense it...

i agree janis her face is gorgeous even when it is swollen

nicky that is a wonderfull idea, (w00t) its a shame OH doesnt think so, i will work on him, :- " :huggles: :huggles:

I must say I think other breeds of dog attack Whippets more than they do other breeds.

I dont know if it is the shape of a Whippet that sets them off or what.

I have two here who have been attacked in the past for no reason, but when I had my Cockes Spaniel he was NEVER attacked even when meeting an aggresive dog,

my friend who used to have Bedingtons said the same and one of hers has five stiches in at the moment from a bite by a Springer Spaniel

Perhaps this explains why owners of other breeds do not know there dog will be aggressive when they meet a Whippet.

Unfortunately what will not even mark another breed will do seriouse damage to a Whip.

Poor little thing, I hope she better very soon :huggles:

Oh my god Katie! Poor wee lass!

Same thing happened to my little Jo-Jo recently, totally unprovoked, frenzied attack. Especially as Jo-Jo wouldnt say boo to a mouse. Gave me a terrible fright.

Sending Star big 'get well soon' kisses xx

Poor Star - hope her pretty face isn't as swollen in the morning, and you and Ruby too - it must have been terrible. I bet you didn't know which way to turn. So glad it hasn't seemed to frighten Star but I bet you'll not relax for a while whilst walking them.

Years ago I had a yorkie and a GSD ran over and put his mouth right around the yorkies back (playing I think - thank god) but my yorkie (who thought he was a much bigger dog) turned and bit the GS on the nose! I don't know who was most shocked! (w00t) (The yorkies name was Butch because he was the biggest out of the litter and always thought he was a doberman in the wrong body!)

Oh Katie!

So sorry to hear about poor Star and Ruby. You must be so shocked!

So glad to read that they are both ok and wanting to play with other dogs. They are such lovely girls :huggles:

Go and have fun at the show, if all the dogs are on leads then you will be less worried, and will do you all loads of good to have a great day out.

Me and Poppy send you all lots of :huggles:

pauls just came back from the vet, shes in shock, and been given antibiotics to take, i guess incase of an infection. no stitches or anythingjust to keep it really clean with salt water. and to let her sleep which is what she is doing now. i feel so rotten for her cause shes the nicest dog she wouldnt hurt a fly. when ever she meets a new dog she is the first to roll over and let them have a sniff.

OH says hes glad he wasnt there as he would have went mental and the lady and the dog, but there just wasnt time to think about it. trying to work out who was in damger and how to get them. the scariest time of my life i think.  :(

here she is, poor baby, wrapped in mummy gems blanket

Lots of cuddles are winging their way from us down here all the way to you and the girls :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

now you tell him from me katie ,those girlys need body gaurds and two gorguse boy whippets will do the trick, theyl not let another dog get ther girlies ,my blue and ollie like pair of rotties if another dogs goes for my girls ,i rember once we was walking in the forest and blue and ollie wer by me and tia had run off in front and around a corner, all of a sudden i could here her screaming like a banshy she came screaming around the corner closely followed by another dog blue and ollie started barking and chasing it so the tables were reversed and the other dog took off screaming his head of  thatl teach it to go for my baby :huggles: and even now if we come across other dogs my boys will put themselves inbetween the girl and the other dog if they like the other dog they will let it play if they think it doesnt pose a threat but if they see it as a threat it quickly chased of

sounds like a good idea nicky but hes not for budging,

i tried laying the guilt trip on him but hes still says no :(

maybe i should just go get one and bring it home he would have to say yes then (w00t) :- "

Glad to hear that Star was happy to see another dog this evening - was Ruby OK too?

Star is such a pretty little girl ....... keep thinking she looks a bit like Irie so I've put a pic up to compare them. I think Star has a bit more white on her face?

Sleep tight, Star, Ruby and Katie :huggles:

Only just caught up on this, poor poor Star and what a horrible shock for you :( . I would have done what you did too and run and get Ruby, glad she was ok too and by the sound of it the other woman was pretty shocked and will hopefully keep her dog on the lead or muzzle it in future.

Dogs are amazing aren't they as it's so good she was happy with the lab, they see body language we don't so if she was ok with a friendly dog then I'm sure she'll overcome any fear. If she is wary of staffie type dogs though that's probably no bad thing as she'll avoid them :))

lots of :huggles: from me and Skye and Phoebe :))

Ann- Ruby is fine, she slept most of the day, but is now trying desperatly to play with star, but were trying not to let them as dont want the wond bleeding again. so she is moving on to terrorise the cats

Nicky- Janis has put up a thread offering to hire out body gaurd whippets for my girls so please feel free to add blue and ollie, i would hire them in a second

Jane- Irie does have the same face as star i love how they have really dark eyes. ruby was fine you would never have know anything had happened to either of them now. :huggles:

Rosie- i hope she does avoid bull type dogs, i mean im pretty sure that even at her age she could out run most so avoiding them would be the best thing. although i know there are alot off bull tyes about i personally havnt seen to many so im hoping that it stays that way and we can all rest easy.

thank you every one for all the nice comments and well wishs i appreiciate it and im sure star and ruby do to :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

Poor little Star :( , its the worst feeling in the world when your precious babies are attacked, Toby got attacked by a gang of labradors when he was 8 months old and it knocked his confidence for a long time after that :( , I really hope you can make it to the fun day tomorrow, there will be loads to do and see and like you say - all dogs on leads under control so it will be a very unthreatening social day out for both the girls

Jill :huggles:

So sorry to read what happened on your walk. Such a shame.

Fred's has been attacked a few times in the past, once seriously (by a huge lurcher). A horrible experience.

I do hope they both stay confident little pups. Getting them to mix with friendly dogs again is the key to regaining confidence. It will be no bad thing if they are nervous enough of bull types in the future, and learn to steer clear. Fred only has to get a whiff of the lurcher that attacked him, or his owner, and he goes beserk
