Stinky Problem

I brought myself a lovely multi coloured shoulder bag for the summer,

it has handles made from wooden beads. But that's where i have a

problem the beads absolutely stink....i think they must have been laid

in mothballs for some reason.

I just cant get the smell out no what i do and i cant use the bag

because every time i turn my head i can smell it :x

Any idea's what i can do to get rid of the pong.

Leave it outside in the fresh air for a few days, that should sort it.

Soak the handles for only a minute or two in warm water and bicarb - then leave outside for a few days ??? :luck: :luck:

No its been left outside for a few days, it's been through my

washing machine and left out to dry naturally but it still stinks

Febreeze? Can't make it smell any worse by the sounds of it.

put some lavender oil on it and let soak in ......Debs(moonglow) swears by it (w00t)

Used a whole bottle......one of those little brown ones....

and could still smell the moth balls and it took the glaze

of the beads :unsure:

I think i may have to take them of and make new handles

somehow.

what about that po puri oil stuff now that the glaze is off it anyway should soak right in ?? :teehee:

I sure do Nik,but i think in this case it needs something a bit stronger....what about Eucalyptus oil,that might do the trick :thumbsup:

What about varnishing them with a few coats of clear nail varnish/ wood varnish - might seal in the stink :thumbsup:

Yes I would use Lavender oil too or failing that Cinnamon oil..is a nice strong one.... I keep all of them in the house for various ..yes the Ecylyptus is a strong one too...

Id sprinkle it onto newspaper or old cloths, and stuff the bag and leave it for a few nights....and see if that does the trick... :thumbsup:
