Supernatural Experiences

Post your supernatural experiences here, it would be fun to read our/your scary stories.

@Caro Perry inspired me to make this thread, from her ghost story on ‘Not in my living room’ thread. (@Caro Perry I think you should start a diary, it would be great to read.)

**Feel free to post any ghost pictures/pictures with orbs that are believed to be ghosts. And memes that are ghost related.

Now this thread will be interesting to read before bed!

This picture made melaugh way more than it probably should have haha.

P.S. I've not really had any paranormal experiences. My brother on the other hand said he once saw our grandad standing at the end of his bed and our family cat at the time was hissing like mad.

Not enough happens regularly for much of a diary! She was much more active when we moved in but is pretty quiet now. I do have another story though.

I have this bracelet that was made for me when I was a child. It is of great sentimental value and is either on my wrist or in my jewellery box. No exceptions. Anyway it went missing. I turned the house upside down and inside out - no trace of it and I resigned my self to its loss. Anyway to cut a long story short about 6 months later I woke up in the middle of the night to the certain knowledge that my missing bracelet was on my dressing table. As indeed it was.

wow! that's really cool! :p

I like ghost stories, horror, sci-fi (especially horror scf-fi!). I also like 'edutainment' stuff too, and the world of quantum physics fascinates me, although I don't have the mental capacity to actually fully understand it (if numbers go into double digits, I need a calculator! :D). When you hear of some the leading edge theories - and even proven hypotheses - about our universe, I like to think that ghosts are explainable via these means. So for example, when someone sees a ghost, are they seeing a phantom, or an event that's been "recorded" by the environment? So, could the natural world around us be capable of recording events similar to the way a magnetic tape does? Or, if the multiverse theory is correct, could a ghost be an occurrence of another universe leaking into our own? Or is it something to do with having more than three dimensions? It's fascinating stuff! Or, it could simply (simply?!) be just spirits of the dead.

Whoa, far too much brain overload early in the morning! :D

I think a lot of sightings could well be recordings - especially the ones where the "ghosts" do not seem to interact with the modern world. The marching Roman legions etc. The corner of my room that so intrigues Harri could well be something like this. As you say, if we can record on things I don't consider it impossible that other natural media such as stone couldn't do it to.

The ones that do seem to be harder to explain are the ones that interact. Quantum physics does offer some tantalising hints of answer but I decided a long time ago that the more I read about it the less I understand it! I think Arthur C Clarke has it right - Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

The only ‘ghost’ encounter I’ve had is when I was young (around 8) my dad and uncle decided to put sheets over their heads and pretend to be ghosts in the garden - I honestly believed I had seen ghosts!! I was spooked for ages.

Ah one of the many mean tricks my parents have played on me over the years!

You missed out 'Or are human brains just brilliant at making things up and convincing us that what we think we've seen is real?';)

I don't believe in 'the supernatural' because of the lack of objective evidence and logical explanation (why would 'spirits' need clothes?) I think our mental world is far better at conjuring up that sort of thing than the physical world. Looking to quantum theory seems to be grasping at straws to me - though they do say that if you think you understand quantum theory then you've definitely misunderstood it! Of course, I may be wrong, and I can't explain the number of otherwise rational honest people who claim to have experienced stuff that just doesn't make sense to me - I'm sure you're not all dishonest and away with the fairies!

And I do like a good ghost story... so as you were:D

I thint the majority of them can probably be down to sleep paralysis. Obviously thoughas mentioned there's the experiences that can't be explained with logic.

Yep, I've had sleep paralysis-type hallucinations (only when I've napped in the day). There's never a visual element with me, but sensing the presence and hearing the breathing of a malevolent being... and on one occasion feeling the bed shift as they lay down next to me:eek: isn't fun. Luckily for me, I wasn't 'properly' asleep and after the first time I knew that they were hallucinations. Still couldn't move or drag my eyelids open though. It was much more real than a dream experience.

Here's an interesting one then. In a book I have about physics 'n' stuff, a mathematician has calculated the odds of finding an arrangement of atoms in the same form as you. So, effectively, there are more than one of us in each in this universe! Apparently ;). Oh, and don't forget the emerging theory that none of us are real, we exist in a computer simulation being run by our far-future descendants

Not an entirely comfortable thought that we are Sims is it! Knowing how I treated mine when I used to play the game does rather worry me!
:) yeah me too i do feel uncomfortable with this theory also, but it could be true.

My lads were delighted when they found they could build the Sims a nice swimming pool, wait till they all went for a swim and then remove the ladder...
