Off to vets at 10 for bandage change and check wonder what colour bandage it will be this time!

He now has a plastic splint strapped to his leg but it is longer then his toes so he is walking on the plastic which is fine on carpet, concrete and in the garden but on a tiled floor it's like skating on ice!! any suggestions would be helpfull could I strap something to the bottom to give grip or pad it out, I will post a photo later to show what I mean

Rubber glove? or a piece of leather, anything that you can attach easily. Poor chap, At least he is on the mend now. Good luck. :luck:

Have put a sock over the end but I have got a woollen riding glove with grips on palm so may try this, oh and he is back in blue x

poor boy, glad he's still got his leg and his op went well, no doubt he's lapping up all the attention !

Love his name btw, good luck for continued recovery.

We have now padded the top of the splint as it's digging in x

Poor little Smartie! If it's not one thing it's another! Hope the padding at the top of the splint helps, the riding glove at the bottom sounds like a good idea (I know the sort you mean), failing that, if it's too big then you can get 'slipper socks' for babies/kids with the rubberized grips on the bottom? When Rifle had a badly cut pad I used them over his dressings. It is just good that he seems happier and you sound a lot more positive after such a worrying time.

that does look so much narrower than his other bandage now though...surely it must be more comfortable...

some good suggestions..like the one of Lals a about the slipper sock... hope you get it sorted.

Come on Smartie you can do this.... :luck: :luck:

He has a sock on the end we have padded top with sponge I check it every day for pressure problems, he is getting more confident with it my tiny tim! x

Just catching up with Smartie's progress and I'm so pleased to see he is coping ok :D

Give him a hug from us xxx

That looks much less bulky now - watch out for pressure sores, Max had a gutter splint and got terrible pressure sores on the bendy bits of his leg (it was a front leg so it was just above the stopper pad) because the whole bandage kept slipping. Some sort of vet wrap on the bottom would give him a bit more grip.

Glad he's doing well. xx Big hugs for him x

I keep checking his leg for bandage and pressure bandage as worried about that, i have seen some pressure ulcers and they are very difficult to heal x all best wish's, hugs etc are being delivered and he loves it x, his pain killers are reducing slowly and he seems fine but taking it very slowly, will post more pics soon x

Got him a baby blue bootie!!, it's got pimple bits on the bottom to give grip!
