Just thought I would offer my two bobs worth on the topic. Just returned to Oz early this week after a fabulous 4 weeks away up over the equator. Thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular of the World Show (what I saw of it -- a small interruption with a bout of food poisoning prevented me attending the final day) ..... I did watch the Whippets and was again in awe of the fabulous depth of quality in both dogs and bitches and some drop dead gorgeous youngsters. Did not attend the Congress regretably, but did return to Vasteras for the Sighthound Show after a short sojourn in Prague ..... 4 rings of fabulous Whippets...... and those Champion Bitches just took my breath away

Lucky to have been able to watch the Greyhound judging on the first day.... another breed with such great depth of quality.

For me, I had the pleasure of renewing acquaintances with friends I had made on my previous visit to Sweden 2 years ago..... sorry I missed you Jax..... but I was able to catch up with Magnus, Bitte and Pierluigi, Unto and Sampo, Stefan, Jackie and of course that Aussie contingent.

Now I am trying to recover from the jet lag phase, back to work and winter ........ reality has again set in..... just forgot to steal some of that summer sun to bring back

I am enjoying this thread, although wishing I could have been there to attend the Congress and experience the shows.
Is there a report on The Congress anywhere?

Where will the next congress be held?

Jenny

It sounded as the next one will be in the US och Germany. I hope Germany!!!

All I have seen written so far is in Swedish ... :(

Henrik

Yes, I hope it is Germany also or, if not, on the East of the USA as I have two sisters who reside that side!!!

For any K9ers in England who are interested in the Congress and would like to read the contents of the folder I can take it to the shows. I will be at Hound Show, City of Birmingham, Richmond.

I am still drooling over all those gorgeous dogs!!

After checking out the links I have to admit I can totally understand why you are drooling, some fabulous whippets.

Some wonderful whippets - I see from many of the 'moving' shots the whippets are moved out on a loose lead, is this the 'norm'? I personally like moving one of mine on a loose lead as he doesn't 'fight' it and moves more relaxed but in general in the UK most are shown on tighter leads

Having been lucky enough to attend all of the Congresses so far, this one was the greatest experience. Wonderful dogs, wonderful people. Congratulations and thanks to the Swedish Whippet Club and the Swedish people. I have come away (exhausted) but full of wonderful memories. Bouquets to everyone.

Wow these ladies really had a ball. I know as I was fortunate enough to spend the evening 'celebrating' and enjoying the view from the verandah.

Kragga was the best. A fabulous venue and the Swedish Club are to be congratulated on their organisation of the Congress & National Show.

The Sighthound show of approx. 800 entries was a sight to behold and definitely worth the 28 hour flight from Oz.

The World Show - Nothing short of spectacular. Noreen (Bonnymead) and I were totalling blown away by all of the dogs, their quality and the sportsmanship of the exhibitors. Again the organisation of the event by the Swedish Kennel Club was superb and the finals - sensational.

We had a fantastic trip!

Crufts..... that's a nice thought..... you never know Jackie.... I may just do that.... not so sure it will be next year though as I have an assignment in NZ mid year.... and you know what it's like.... also have to go to work occasionally. A bit easier now as all of my Basset Hounds have passed on, all in the last month (one before I went away, one while I was away and the last I had to put to sleep when I came home)... so now only have 8 Whippets to accommodate while away.

catch ya
