Tarka, my 5 year old whippet was hit and thrown 6 foot through the air by a car has been having hydrotherapy and physiotherapy for 2 months following a femoral head excision. (Hip socket removal)
Jayne (Haycroft) told me to up his physio exercises and be a bit tougher on him as TC and Jayne both felt he was just lacking confidence and getting a habit with 3 legs because it was quicker for him.
Up until now he has only been on 3 legs and was very reluctant to use the 4th leg. I have had to teach him a command of "foot down" with treats to get him to bear a little weight on it.
Today for the first time he has walked on all 4 for a solid 10 minutes!
I was so chuffed I nearly cried on the walk!!!! I am so proud of him. He is sitting in his crate with a tripe stick as I type.
Just had to share the news really as I am so happy that we are starting to turn the corner. Thanks Jayne & TC for your advice as it gave me the confidence to push him a bit harder
