The Hay Race, sponsored by Eukanuba and SmartBones, was one of the most popular features at DogFest last year, enjoyed by many dogs and owners alike!

Dogs are timed as they jump over a series of hay bales, encouraged by their owner waiting at the finish line! Many of the owners show their dogs how it's done first, whilst the dog is waiting - somewhat patiently! - at the start line, so there is plenty of fun to be had!

It's a short burst of great fun, giving lots of dogs the opportunity to have-a-go and, as an added bonus, prizes will be offered for the fastest times throughout the weekend!

Jimmy'd probably just run off in some random direction, to laughs from the crowd.

I thought about doing this with Jasper several years ago. OH told me we shouldn't, it would all go horribly wrong, but as we were discussing it Jasper must have had a flashback to our disastrous attempt at lure coursing with him, reared up, and couldn't get away fast enough  I'm not even sure what it was about the course that triggered the memory, but it just went to show what a sensitive, easily fried brain he has.

My dogs would probably just run and run and keep going! So my 2 wouldn't be any good they'd just please themselves :)

So is Jasper, as long as he's jumping a natural feature like a fallen tree or a wide stream. But if it's a fence or a stairgate - forget it, in his mind it's an impassable barrier, and I'm keen to keep it that way;) But it was a bit exasperating when he got stuck in the kitchen because I'd left a mop bucket in the doorway. It didn't even come up to his tummy height!
