Very best wishes to Bryn for a very speedy recovery... :huggles: :huggles: :luck:

Just thought I'd update this.....we've just come back from the out of hours vet service on account of Bryn removing all his stitches from his armpit..he has been stapled back together but if he has any problems over night we have to go back tomorrow morning for him to be sedated and restitched.....and yes it's my fault, I took the bucket off him so he could eat his tea and forgot to put it back on so he quietly removed all his stitches.....so he is now rather stressed and we are £120 worse off...oops expensive mistake and husband very peed off but it's totally my fault so I shall endure being in the dog house for this evening LOL.

If all is ok overnight we have an appointment for Sunday morning for the staples to be checked.

Oh no - I swear dogs choose the worst possible times to damage themselves sometimes. Lots of good thoughts for Bryn, I hope all is well and you don't spend Christmas day at the emergency vets! :luck:

Little monkey , no chrissy pressies for him then .lol :clown:

How about putting a teashirt on him instead ?

it's the first time in seventeen years we've had to do an emergency call out, so not too bothered really, more sorry for my little dog..he's still bleeding a little, the wound opened right up and looked pretty awful, then started bleeding all over on my lap.

The T shirt isn't a bad idea actually. :)

thank you, he is fairly comfortable with a tea shirt on and his bucket on...he needs both due to trying to itch the staples using his back leg and successfully removing one of them that way!! the wound has opened one end but unless the whole thing comes undone, I am just keeping him quiet and giving him pain relief until sunday morning when he will need to be sedated and re-stitched again.

 another update...just got back from vets again, Bryn has now been cleaned up, properly stapled back together and has pain relief AND antibiotics now...so little man should be back to normal in ten days.

Poor Bryn - I do hope he makes a speedy recovery. :luck: :luck:

It must be so stressful for the little lad :( Bless x

Hopefully this time it will all stay in place and he will heal up quickly

Pleased to hear he's on the mend. You have my symapthies about the stitches being undone. The little rascal. When Fred had a large lump removed from his pastern joint, he undid all the stiches. Wearing a collar didn't stop him at all. It then took 6 weeks of constant bandage changing and vigilance to get it to heal, as it couldn't be restitched.

Thank goodness you were able to get Bryn's wound re-stapled...but sorry it was rather costly.

Thank you...the wound was way too enormous to leave unstitched but due to Bryn not recovering so well after a GA on Monday, it was better to re-staple than risk another GA...I think honestly it will have to be life or death before he has another GA anyway..he has aged enormously over the last few weeks...is now completely deaf and looks fairly feeble at times..he's also quite mad now like some dotty old uncle bless him..he'll never make another Christmas poor lad.

I'm having to dress the wound at night to try and help it dry out, due to its location it is very moist and we are to blot the wound occasionally too to aid healing and keep it as dry as possible.

I'm pretty skint at the moment but never begrudge anything spent on health care for the dogs, it's unfortunate but as you know you get used to these little surprises

Glad to hear all went well for your boy, fingers crossed for good healing now, bless him
