I see a few dogs coming in to the salon wearing flea collars, now in my opinion they're pointless as long as you treat for fleas regularly in other ways like tablets or spot ons. Plus they look awful!
And if it's your only method of flea prevention, do they even work?...

What are your opinions on this?

I'm using herbal tick/flea repellents for Harri at the moment and so far we've not had any problems with either ticks or fleas. If it becomes necessary the Seresto collar will be my choice of pesticide based control. I know a couple of regulars here use it successfully.

I doubt the cheap ones from the pet shops are much good.

I use a Seresto collar for fleas and ticks because Jasper hates spot-ons and the tablets sometimes make him throw up. It's very effective.

I used a seresto collar until my lurcher had a siezure 48 hrs after wearing one and i have a friend had exactly the same experience with her lurcher too. ......but i know people use them with no problems at all

Billy no mates is very good and i find adding garlic to my lots food repels nasties. ..never had a problem with fleas

We are currently in Spain, we used a spot on in the UK and then came to a supermarket over here and bought Olive a collar they do look awful brown and smells awful but she has the collar for leishmaniosis because that would be awful if any of the dogs were to get it. Don't worry Doris had a spot on from one of the Spanish vets...

Oh wow, I'm surprised at how many of you use flea collars!
I suppose it's just down to personal preference and what's best for each individual dog, mine is happy on Nexgard tablets every 5 weeks, they're super easy, don't effect (effect or affect? I can never tell which to use!) her allergies and she just thinks it's a treat!

I've been told to do that, but later advice suggested garlic was toxic to dogs.
