I just want to say big public thank you to Cristina Fornasier for her sportsmanship this weekend. Not many people would do this....
My Dino has been sore in the rear for a few weeks now - he has not even been able to win a reserve challenge at our last few shows and I haven't been able to pinpoint exactly where the soreness is and I've tried quite a few things short of taking him to the vet or a manipulator (which I am hesitant to do as I'm not really a believer in manipulators). He's not exactly limping but he's not been extending the way he normally does.
There were only three people showing whippets at Moranbah this weekend, Cristina, myself and Frank Philp. Knowing full well that the judge on Sunday liked my dog and had put him up before, Cristina still offered me a tube of Voltaren (something I hadn't tried) on Saturday night to try to help ease whatever is ailing Dino. Dino's only other competition were Cristina's two dogs. Who do you know who would help you out in this situation? She didn't have to. She could have shut her mouth, let Dino continue to be sore, and taken the challenge herself with one of her boys. But she helped me out and Dino took dog challenge.
I am so very grateful Cris - firstly that you did this, ultimately at your own expense, and that I am now confident that it is only a bit of muscle soreness in the groin and not anything more serious.
This is what dog showing is all about.
