Paul i dont know how true this is as i myself have never tried it --- having both dogs and bitches the dogs go off whilst bitches are in season-- but i was told that if your Dog is running really well thats the time to give him a short rest then bring him back and he will run even better--- this was by a man  who only had dogs --food for thought maybe nothing lost by giving it a try eh? Also your comments about Midnight-Run were very true---he is a brilliant dog --like your own on his day-- we all have off days dont we its just a case of bringing it all together on the right day-- thats why horse trainers get big wages if they can do it right . like us  some do and some dont. but we keep trying

Cheers Steve yep they both are...a little off topic now, but i took my dog to a greyhound trainer today and the fella had a look at Rory, felt certain points, stretched him etc, and the little fella was screaming when certain points were subjected to any pressure, not anything major i was assured, but racing has taken its toll, so its complete rest and massage twice a day..for at least 3 weeks, so a lesson learnt, like us they need rest, but sadly they can't tell us :(

regards

Paul

sorry to hear paul best of luck for a speedy recovery 8)

just a shame its this time of year he has to have the rest

 andy

cheers Andy, as i said it ain't serious, just like any athlete, you will pick up injuries, am just glad i've got time to get the fella right, he had a hard time at the end of last year, and it caught up with him i suppose. as i said before, these dogs of ours ain't machines, but athletes, just as much as david beckham is....hey! don't he play for england even when he's injured

paul

nb, bet tam is pleased with forest today
