Am I able to post some details and pics of a stunning 16 month smooth Lurcher who urgently needs a home??? I rescued him from local shelter on monday (about to be sold to gypsies!   ) He is a fantastic dog, very intelligent, playful, great with other dogs until.... food is about when he turns into the most savage nasty beast, that bad i felt the need to send my Iggy and male Lurcher to their Aunties, whilst i try find Slim a home... (who are both mad on food also) Can only presume he has had to fight for his food, he also is highly tense when he is eating and it is gone in a second (and i'm used to greedy Lurchers!!) He is living quite happily after just one attack with my elderly Lurcher girl who has zero interest in food, so he seems to see her as no threat  He needs an experienced owner ideally with no other dogs, needs an active life, loves running along side my bike, he really would make a smashing fun pet can anyone help i really want my dogs back home  He has shown no food aggression to me at all, i have been working really hard on this problem, he is improving, but there is no way i would want to chance my other dogs with him, he would attack over a crumb! Anyway here's a pic of him to tempt you, he is a real stunner 8)

Poor little fella. I would live to have him, but I have five whippets - four oldies and a puppy - and oldest, Eric, is much the same over food!

My heart goes out to you both.

What a beautiful boy i doubt he'll be looking long :luck:

 :thumbsup:Thank you very much for those links, he has been on Lurcher Link for few days but have had no joy, have had an enquiry today from a K9er but maybe we are too far away :( and how come i have never heard of SLR?? :b Have e mailed them for advice, hoping they can help. Spoke to a couple of other rescues today who advised he should be put down which has totally floored me really, he is a cracking dog in every other way, would feel i have totally failed him if i ended up doing that     If i didn't have any other dogs he would not have shown any nasty side and i would be raving about what a superstar dog he is, he has never shown any aggression to me or my son. Have had him off the lead too, he has an instant recall and is very friendly with any dogs we meet large or small. In fact he was attacked (!) by a Yorkie the other day and he didn't even bat an eyelid  :clown:

he's gorgeous, a nice age, and I don't think the food aggression is a huge problem as long as his carer has the time and space to feed him separately from other dogs. One of my dogs eats superfast (but is not aggressive to the other 2 who won't let him near their bowls when they are eating); I put his food in kongs to slow him down! Or you can put rubber balls- too large to swallow of cousrse0 in the food bowl or get special bowls.

hi,where do you live i would be interested in giving him a home,as you know i have a greyhound i recently rehomed he is great with my dobbie lurcher whom is comming on a treat. What is he like when food isnt around is he ok with the dogs then.I see he has had 5 homes already poor thing.I have to feed my 2 seperate their not aggressive they swop bowls so i cant keep up on who has had what.I have the rottie at my sons home now as it was his dog to begin with and i have fully trained him.So i have a spare place in my heart.I walk my dogs 3miles a day and you can vet my home. That if your not too far away

Jane, it appears Gina & the lurcher are in the Manchester area. hope it works out for you.

:( :( Still really need home for this lad, he is improving every day, but still very unpredictable around food, but in every other way he is fantastic...fully house trained, very obedient, great off the lead, very friendly with all dogs we meet :huggles:

Bad points-happy to supplement his diet with his own poop :x particularly loves it when he has his muzzle on and can really squish it in there, then run in the house and try wipe it on the nearest person :b

He has a real character too, great fun, HATES rain and puddles though, although he did jump 8 ft into the middle of the river Mersey to try catch a goose before i think he realised it was water  he also ran into the back door of a pub that backs onto the Mersey walk whilst i was distracted and ran to the bar much to the surprise of the bar maid  Luckilly she saw the funny side, he tried to do it again couple of days later so i think his future owner may need to book him in A.A. classes

So need a home for Slim, he is settling in far too well, but my other dogs are so wary of him after his food rampages!!
