Can anyone tell me if its possible to freeze raw veg when Ive blitzed it for the dogs. I feed Ozzy and Vinnie raw meat and bones and I blitz up raw vegetables too, I put back all the juice that comes out into the pulped veg too.

I always end up throwing some away - so I wondered if maybe I could put it into ice cube blocks or something in the freezer, or would it lose all its goodness if I did this?

Loads of people who feed barf prepare veg in advance and freeze it, athough it's easier to put it into small sandwich bags

TCx

I make batches of about ten ice cube trays and freeze, then empty all the cubes into a carrier bag, then just defrost two each day with the frozen tripe, works out pretty well :)

I feed mine raw and have never bothered with veg. It's in one end and out the other. In my opinion they just don't need it. The only time I'd consider it would be to bulk out a feed for a hungry dog on a diet.

I don't bother with veg either. Mine eat grass and also help themselves to horse, rabbit and sheep poo (processed grass, lol) for their 5 a day :)

They also help themselves to the horse food if some gets scat out of the mangers or I've left some in a bucket and that is corn/green based so is an ideal extra for them to pick over occasionally.

The rest of their diet consists of raw meat and bones

I buy fruit and veg from the farm shop in bulk and he gives me a good deal. Then I blitz it (there goes an evening) before putting it in those plastic trays you sometimes get chinese in and pop them in the freezer, my dogs love it.

if you've got the time blanche the veg before freezing it, ie: pop in boiling water literally for a min or 2 then remove, my mum + dad have always grown their own and they say they defrost nicer if you do this.

The vege are quite important when feeding BARF...I usually do mine fresh in the food processor

whatevers handy...turnip..carrots..cabbage..cauli...brocollli..courgettes... tomatoes...tonight my lads had leftover cooked

vege but its usually raw. I also save the leftover water that the veges have cooked in.

You can freeze it...there is only minimum vitamin loss...not a great deal of difference. I freeze mine

in small freezer bags..

I don't feed my dogs barf but I certainly freeze veg (both raw & cooked) for my own use with no problems. Hope this helps. =)
