Today I took the hearbreaking decision to have my beloved Hula PTS . Her quality of life was becoming less every day and she was only going to get worse .
I got Hula on Dec 12th 1993 six weeks after the death of my first whippet from an an auto immune condition aged just 2 .
From the start it was clear Hula was special , she is the only pup I have ever had who would never do the toilet on the floor and asked to get out even at 3 am in the sleet and snow which was not always a good thing .
Hula on her first Christmas aged 11 weeks
As she got older she was wild , in fact people used to ask me if Hula was short for hooligan she was such a holy terror .
She had severe separation anxiety and taught me all I know on the subject .
When she was just about two she became very ill with an auto immune condition called polyarteritis . She was put on massive amounts of prednisolone and then gradually taken off them and she was lucky to survive .
When we got another whippet Scout and at the same time a kitten Hula was delighted these were the babies she never had .
We then got 3 rescue dogs and Hula looked after them all . Every dog we got always knew Hula was in charge and they never seemed to mind that in fact they all adored her . Even our latest puppy Fern the poodle adored Hula above all others . She would just go and lie beside Hula just to be near her .
Hula when she was younger lying in her favourite postion .
The last nice photo of Hula , at the beach .
There is a huge hole in our lives now but we are so glad we had Hula , she was a dog in a million
