aww Nicky, it's terrible to see poor Tia crying like that, hope the muscle relaxant is now working and you can both catch up on your rest.

:luck: for the x-rays tomorrow, I sincerely hope they can sort her out soon, it's not right for her to be like that, lots of gentle :huggles: :huggles: to you both

I'm so glad the vet has ruled out tetanus and menagitus .

I hope that the meds with help with her pain tonight that vid is so pityful i could cry for her.

Hopefully the vet will find the cause of all the pain tomorow and Tia will soon be on the mend. :huggles:

This must be heart breaking for you Nicky, poor Tia, I really hope she will have a more settled and comfortable night tonight, I know you will be making her as comfortable as possible. She looks so sad in those videos, just want to give her a cuddle. I hope the vets can get to the bottom of this and she will have a quick recovery. Sending lots of :huggles: :huggles: to you both.

A friend of mine's bitch was poorly, off her food and had a lot of pain in her neck, she yelp when she moved it - it was meningitis - I would get her back down the vets tonight because once this bitch was put on steroids within a very short time she was improving.

She is now fully recovered and full of energy

Spot on  Most vets are quick to rule out meningitis as they seem to think it rarely affects dogs.

Not so.

There are several different forms of meningitis including viral forms. Meningitis can NOT be ruled out unless the correct tests have been done.

If this continues & each time the muscle relaxants wear off the pain comes back ask your vet to try her on Predneslione (sp) steroid & low dose Phenobarbitone

Good luck :luck:

Hi Nicky, Hope Tia is a little more settled now, try and rest yourself if you can while shes quiet.

I had a whippie with the same symptoms, it was a neck injury caused by a dog running into him when he wasnt looking. he would actually cry out if anything came near him as he was so frightened by the thought of being touched, he held his head low and wouldnt lift it, and just rigedly trembled

Its similar to a back spasm in humans when the muscles become inflamed and as anyone who has had it knows every movement is agony

The good news is it does get better quickly when the inflammation is reduced and the metacam will help this.

My boy only had this once more and lived to a ripe old age with no other probs

Good luck with xrays tomoz :luck: hugs to Tia jan

poor tia hope shes feeling a bit better nicky

just a thought as the vet says the pain is in her neck

ask vet to check where the micro chip is as they do move sometimes

love and :huggles: to you all

Hi Nicky,

my boy took a tumble at racing once and had a stiff neck/shoulder, shuffly gate and it turned out to be muscle injury and swelling, i found metacam and muscle relaxant worked well but i also used a warm wheat bag to help relax his muscles once he had settled down,

my girl had similar symptoms, with the very sore, stiff low neck and shoulder pain, her skin twitched in spasm to, the 1st vet treated her with painkillers/anti inflamatory but she just got worse over the next few days, her temp soared and her gums were very pale, the second vet we saw ultrasounded her stomach and diagnosed Pyometra infection and she was speyed and thankfully alright, apparently it can also be a sign of infection.

i'd keep a very close check on her temperature, if it remains normal or just above normal, then i'd be more inclined to think it was a strain or injury but if it starts to rage then i'd insist the vet see her again soon as

:luck: :luck: :luck: lots of luck with her

hope tia has a restfull night and they find the cause of her pain :huggles:

such a worry for you chin up nicky :luck:

Sorry to hear Tia hasnt improved much Nicky.. :( looking at that video my guess is also a trapped nerve or muscle...thats exactly how my little Chip was ..but can I say he was in a lot more pain and couldnt get up on a chair like that..his head was down all the time, it is so awful to see them like this.

He did eventually come good Nicky on the metacam and injections he had...but it did take a while..and only gentle excercise in the meantime.

I would say she has probably done it charging around with the others...

Good luck at the vets... :luck: :luck:

poor Tia :(

may not be any help but my crossbreed dog had something similar a few months back, just started with a yelp when he turned a certain way then got worse until he couldnt get up stairs or down stairs and gettin up hurt him, horrible to see him in such pain! vet thought a neck injury and gave us painkillers, they worked a bit but he was still in a lot of pain, took him back to vets and was given more painkillers, think they were pardale and also codiene. but after a chat with a friend who is a vet interested in the homopathatic (cant spell it!) stuff..she gave me some 'hypericum' for him, within a day he improved and after two he was completely off all the painkillers. Sorry cant be any more help

:luck: :luck: :luck: hope she ok

I agree i lost a dog last year that had meningitis and the symtoms are very similar to your dog she needs a spinal tap before meningitis can be ruled out insist on one, vets tend to rule it out because not all can do the procedure a classic sign of Meng is a stiff neck, reluctance to eat unless the bowl is lifted, and a "doefull" look this is caused by the dog not wanting to move its head so tends to roll their eyes upwards

I cant get photo bucket to work so cant see the vids - what have they done so far test wise for her?

Good news re x-ray tomorrow, if they cant find a definate cause tomorrow I'd really insist on going to a specialist (vet school?) asap and have every test known to man done as it could be so many things. Is she insured? How far are you from Bristol? Have used the vet school there several times and been very impressed (but they are v v v v expensive, I think the consult alone was £90)

My friends Rottie has just been diagosed with MMM by a specialist, something her own vet didnt look for and is now on life saving treatment. She was days away from being PTS. I'd be happy to go to a specialist every time. (My vet is brilliant I hasten to add)

:luck: to Tia
