Really lovely pictures of stunning puppies. I'm very interested in genetics and what makes what! Could you tell me the colour of the Sire? And is your girl all white? Many Thanks, Ron. PS: I'm the 'Ron' who 'Honey' (Carol

Jepson) will be coming to live with soon!

Hiya Ron,

The sire Texas Tea is also Brenna's dad, he is Black with a tiny white bit on his chest like Bren not sure if he has any white toes, Becky will be able to tell you better :D I think Cody is what they called 'tea stained' but again Becky will be able to tell you what colour is on Cody's pedigree. The best one to ask about colours is Judy on here

WOW there coming on a treat, :huggles: love the silver brindle as he just looks like Our Rose his grandma.

Lovely pictures, thanks. Another querstion ..... can two solids have parti-coloured pups? For example, could your black and white have had pups that were fifty/fifty - say black and white? I know in some breeds, if your mate a solid to a parti-colour - the pups will always be solids or just with a splash of white on the chin, chest or feet. This seems to be NOT the case with Whippets and Greyhounds????

Thanks again, Ron.

Hi Carol,

So that's Honey's grandpa? Its all very interesting. Thanks for the tip and I will certainly get onto Judy for further info. Cheers, Ron. Any luck at the Champs? Sorry I couldn't get there.

The answer is yes. The gene for particolour is recessive to the gene for solid coats so if both parents happen to have one gene for a solid coat and one for a parti coat they will both appear solid coated but if a particular puppy happens to receive the parti gene from both parents then it will be particoloured. On the other hand if one of the parents has 2 genes for a solid coat, then it will never have a particoloured puppy no matter who it is mated to. Of course you don't know what recessive genes a dog might have until it is mated to another dog that also has those recessive genes.
