We have a little foster kitten at the moment, she has a semi parylised leg & is staying until it's better or if it doesn't get better then she will have to have it amputated :(

I've called her "Fizz" as she is having "fizzio" every day

The dogs have all reacted differently,

Hebe has gone to live in another room as Fizz spat at her :b

Scrumpy is not sure what is happening, why is this kitten in a cage & why is there a big bowl of food just out of reach inside the cage?

Rafferty is totally obsessed & would just stare at her for hours on end if I let him.

The poor kitty seems to be coping well with all the trauma of being in a madhouse, she is a friendly little thing & is managing very well on 3.5 legs :( I'm hoping that she will regain the use of the other one soon :luck:

Rafferty knows he isn't allowed into the kitchen when the kit is out so just lies in the doorway staring. You can't tell by the pic but he is actually trembling with excitement here (w00t)

Little Sod!! I wouldn't trust him an inch unsupervised (w00t)

Sweet kitten.

What's wrong with/what happened the leg? It looks very swollen, poor thing.

We don't know whats wrong with her leg, maybe she was born like that, which could explain why she's been abandoned

Or it could be some sort of trauma that's caused it, we just don't know.

In the photo it does look swollen but it's not really. The leg is bent back at the wrist joint & she can't seem to straighten it out properly. When she moves, she just slides it along the floor in front of her. :( She can't half shift tho'

The vet doesn't want to put a cast on as this will make it even more immobile & not encourage her to use it. I'm doing "fizzio" about 10 times a day, just stretching & flexing it & trying to get her to bear some weight on it.

So it's just a matter of time really but if there is no improvement in about a month then she will be better off without a useless leg dragging around & it will be amputated. Hopefully it won't come to that tho' :luck:

Awww, she's lovely, and very lucky to have found her way to you by the sound if it

Everything crossed that the leg improves.

What a little love she is , and what a shame about her leg :( Good luck with getting it mobile though :luck: and if not they can still shift on 3 :D Are you keeping her then ? as you said `foster` kitten 8)

aaw, fostering kits is fantastic- i occasionally help out the CP and local welfare charity, its sometimes quite heartbraking and then again very fulfilling!

its surprising how they can bounce back to confidence, goodluck with Fizz xxx

NO!!!!! We are not going to keep her, as lovely as she is we don't have a vacancy for another cat at the moment :- "

If she has to lose the leg I have a home lined up for her with someone who wants an indoor cat but things are looking quite good today & she seems to be making good progress :))

Fingers & paws XXXX :luck:
