any ideas? :b

(w00t) I love this question as there are so many answers it seems

I'd call him a black brindle Sharon, but that's just me, and I'm sure I will stand corrected leter on :b

I call Ruso a Black Brindle Particolour, and I think they're pretty similar  Although, I think it would be prudent to point out that on Ruso's pedigree he is classified as 'Brindle and White Particour' (w00t)

Sorry about the hand in this pic, I haven't had time to edit it :b

Well I would say Zeb, Ruso and Fynn are Black brindles

Sada and Kiplin, Blue brindles.

I like to go by the colour of the actual brindling, other go by the back ground colour ......... !

Blaze wants to join in too (but she takes offence at being called a "baldie brindle").

Whoops that's a tiny picture

I can't see Zeb's photo on this computer, but I would call Sada a silver brindle.

See I'd still call Blaze a Blue Brindle, but I know others will differ (w00t)

What sort of brindle is Archer then??? ( sorry to hijack the thread  )

same thing, some will say black brindle, some will say red brindle

you could even say both, red black brindle :- " (if he as red as he looks in the pics :b )

I'm not going to call him anything, did you see the way he just looked at me

Well to put my two pennies worth in .....I always thought the colour of the brindle is the back ground colour, not the stripes ........So Zeb is a silver brindle, as is Ruso .....Kiplin, Blaze and Sada are blue brindles ........ and Archers a red brindle :D ......but this is only what I've been told years ago when I worked with racing Greyhounds

Its complicated isnt it, as someone said some people go on the colour

of the stripe and some go on the background colour

 I don't want Silver.....I want Black :- "

How can Kiplin, Blaze and Sada be blue brindles, when it's their stripes that are blue not the background 8)

Archer is Sexy Brindle

I would tend to agree with Hannah's theory, i.e. that you go on background colour because otherwise all brindles would either be blue or black brindle but I think I would describe Kiplin, Blaze and Sada as fawn brindle or blue fawn brindle. Archer I would describe as a red brindle. Zeb and my own Rupert are sort of inbetween colours because a lot of people would describe them as black brindle but I, personally, don't think either of them have the intensity of brindling to describe them as such. They are more silver fawn with black brindling.

It really all depends how the individual sees and describes colours ............... hence why I only ever register puppies as brindle or brindle particolour!!!

The terminology of brindle is extremely confusing as few of these terms relate to the genetics of brindle. The one term that does relate is blue, as blue brindles are genetically distinct; 'blue' in this case refers to the dilution of the black hairs to grey, regardless of the underlying colour. What people mean by 'black brindle' is heavy brindling, which means a higher proportion of dark hairs (whether dilute or not) to the lighter ones, so by this terminology it's possible to have a black blue brindle

When people refer to silver, red or fawn brindles they are generally referring to the background colour, although if fact these are just different shades of fawn. Confusion sets in as many people think they have silver brindles, when in fact they are pale because their stripes are blue. I'd with Dessie on this one, both of mine are just registered as 'brindle' and 'brindle particolour'. If they were blue, then they'd be blue brindle.

exactly! look at Monty, he would be described as fawn but he is definately brown! and he has blue brindles but he a blue dog, very confusing

I describle him as a red/fawn with blue brindle, sounds nice and simple  as you say, brown dog with stripes ;)
