This forum used to be a great place to chat, look at whippet show results, general chat about whippets. Where has everyone gone?????????????

I was thinking exactly the same thing. It seems very quiet these days. Are people using Facebook nowadays or other forums? :-This forum used to be a great place to chat, look at whippet show results, general chat about whippets. Where has everyone gone?????????????
I wondered if that was the reason Janis. It seems a real pity as I used to love K9.I hope it will improve...I love K9...its such a shame a great forum going to waste....dont let it die.....
Facebook has took over, and I feel its such a shame.... hardly anyone posts now.
Well said annie :thumbsup:Are people perhaps visiting but not posting ... there has been a fair bit of atagonistic posting lately and I for one got a little tired of it ... I look to see what's here and then when nothing much is I go away. Memo to self ... must try harder !
Thanks for those figures Nigel. You do a great job.Looking at the visitor figures there is a slight reduction compared to last year but generally things are looking pretty healthy. There has always been ups & down across different forums over the years but with there being more and more destinations available for viewers clicks I think K9 has faired very well.
This is a graph of daily visitors each day since January 2010 in comparison with 2009. You will see that we have been pretty consistent at around 2000 visitors per day for the last 2 years.

The beauty of facebook is that you add those who are friends as friends, ok this includes a few "virtual" friends but you get to pick and choose those who are like minded or have the same interests. On the other hand the diversity of folk on a forum can keep it interesting.....I don't know anything about vendetta's because I don't really know anyone on k9 so unless people are outright rude, then i wouldn't really know what was going on :clown:I've switched to Facebook now for personal chat items. I didn't like it at first but have got used to it now, and it is more private. I'll still post about Fred whippet...but as he's 14 now , I don't go out with him anywhere as near as much as I used to. I was also put off K9 (again) recently by a vendetta against a certain member. I hate posts with hidden agendas and members with axes to grind. Their posts are so transparent...it really put me off for a while.
Excellent post. Thanks. :thumbsup:I must have my eyes shut then lol....I seem to miss most of the negative stuff :teehee: the joy of not actually knowing anyone (w00t)
I don't know what the trouble has been but think that blame can be laid in all camps and like in life it's often six of one and half a dozen of the other.
I can't see anything wrong with showing/working or just keeping whippets etc as pets, it's surely each to his own.
I thought the whole point of all the different sections on a forum was so everyone could post and enjoy sharing their different pursuits.....hence why I don't really post in showing or working/racing sections( other than to admire someone's dog)because my whippet is simply my much loved pet.
much like every level of life there will always be a small number of people who cause bad feeling or upset and the thing to do is ignore them....i would not let someone's comments spoil my joy of my dogs or my desire to share that with others.......if someone makes a negative or inflammatory comment on a thread, the best response is to ignore it and just carry on sharing the greatness of our dogs...at the end of the day it's the dogs themselves that matter and maybe sometimes people need to put their sensibilities to one side and just enjoy the forum as it is intended to be.......any arguments and negativity only win out and spoil the forum if we let them.
The forum can only die if we all just let it. I am a member of several forums and enjoy different aspects of all of them which is why i cannot choose and say whether one is better than another....there are (on all the forums I am a member of) a few people who are just of an argumentative nature, some are quite rude, others quite stupid but there are an awful lot of really decent, really friendly and really great people who all want to share the joy of their dogs and the things they do with them.
The forum is what we make it and maybe just blaming a small group of people is a bit unbalanced since we too are forum members and we can still make it a good place to visit......
should have said well said olliesmumwell put
