We picked up our gorgeous little boy Smidge today - and for all of you who said we should pick Miguel (as he was called then) you were so so right. He is exactly what we wished for and more. He travelled the 4 hours drive home like he'd travelled all his life. Steve thought I should put him in his bed down by my feet, so he wouldn't see the scenery rushing before his eyes and make him feel sick. I tried, but no, he wanted to be up looking out of the window! He slept for about 30 mins if the journey, and the rest of the time he was up taking it all in, and excited about things he hasn't seen before. He was mesmerised by the traffic lights!!
Before we left Andrew and Julie's we did the whole broods DNA samples for profiling and parent analysis. Not that we don't know who the parents are of course, but we think it is the way forward, and that before long DNA profiling will be commonplace. It was very simple to do, and inexpensive too. If either of our dogs are used at stud in the future they will be profiled ready.
The rest of the dogs sniffed him before we left, and I was pleased that they seemed to like him. When we got home he went prancing around the lounge like he'd lived here forever, pounced on Sweep (which gave him a shock (w00t) ) - and then went over to the fireplace and chewed the stone, which was exactly what Sweep did as a pup. The dog I thought would be his best friend here, Sweep's sister Nibs (Moondust), is actually afraid of him. I'm sure she'll come round in a day or two. o
This picture is Sweep and his boy together on the settee about an hour after we got home   They're going to be great pals
Sleeping soundly - hope he does tonight!
Will post more pics when I take some
