This will be my last post on this board, but before I leave, I would like to know if some of you can recommend any other whippet discussion boards out there? Preferably with members from Britain and Europe, and not accepting of racism.
you quoted on a previous post-

"Racism is certainly a problem in Norway as well, but let me assure you, if such posts appeared on a dog-related forum in my country, the poster would be immediately banned".

i recommend you should stick to forums in Norway to avoid further upset

What a silly thing to say - this is only your 5th post and you are saying things like that to someone who is only concerned about the rules of the board being upheld.

Sorry,Thank you for pointing that out, i will wait until i have posted 300+ like youself and then i may have gained enough wisdom to pass comment.

common sense and good manners cant be gained by the number of posts youve made.you either have them or you dont.rls22 does. ;)

Thanks Kris, I feared when I wrote that it might get a reaction like that. :- "

I thought this was a forum ie a vehicle for discussion i have made 5 posts none of which were rude or bad mannered it puzzles me why you made the above comment are you implying that i have neither? plus i did not direct any comment at you my reply was too rls22

This is the point, we're all different but we share a love of whippets and a willingness to share experiences, opinions and learn in the process. I'm a newbie (first puppy arriving next week (w00t) ) and I've found this forum and Whippetforum immensely helpful and a terrific heart-lifter. I have had so many laughs too.

Don't leave - I've enjoyed your posts too (and my much loved late father was Norweigan  ) I didn't see the racist thread but what I gathered was that the offensive comments were an emotional reaction to extreme animal cruelty - and that I can understand rather more than a cold-blooded prejudice.

Stay and help, as Oscar Wilde famously said, we're all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars

Please dont leave us... I often see posts I dont like ....it is like life itself.... but you can either ignore it or post back in anger... We do have a choice..... plus we are all entitled to our own opinions too...

sometimes how we react makes all the difference. :)

Might I suggest that a new thread is started with a copy of a letter which people could copy and send to their MP. (my post from the 'EXTREME CRUELTY' thread) How very sad that NOBODY could find the time to do this.

I'm sure that all the passion that's gone into this topic has equally gone into writing your letters and emails to the embassy and signing the petition.

SO Please , please don't forget the cruelty and suffering which is still going on TODAY!! :(

Bardmand, Take the advice on here. Stay and use the ignore button. Report anything you find offensive and Mods will do their best as always. Now can we move on?

It's worse than watching Big Brother!!!

there was a thread recently " yorkshire airline" which depicted the county and its inhabitants in a sterotypical and condisending manner everyone thought it was great fun, what would of been the reaction if i had posted one inthe the same vein about " Pakistani Airlines"?? my advice Barmand is to enjoy your dog discussions and block members who regulary post the kind off posts that offend you there is a qoute-

"It is easier to wear slippers than to try and carpet the whole world"

Urchin....I am basically harmless as long asI am tucked up in bed most nights at 10pm (w00t)

it doesnt surprise me in the slightest that you fail to understand how your post was offensive.there was no need to be so rude and patronising to rls22.yes this is a discussion board.no we dont expect you to agree with what anyone is saying.but there are ways of making a point. i thought your way was both rude and offensive to this member.there was no need for it.make a point yes,but dont be derogatory to a member while making it :)

"rude and patronising"!! sarcastic yes, i started with sorry and thankyou (rude???) but as i said i was replying to rls22 who was certainly patronising (characteristic of those who treat others with condescension) to me

I was not intending to be patronising - I would not post something like the post in question when I had only just joined a board, that is all.

I think this has got out of hand and has been blown out of all proportion and should be locked - we are trying to avoid nastiness after all
