How can i convince my OH we need to increase our dogs from 2 to 3 id love an iggy /whippet but he wont budge  He's so infuriating. i think if you've got 2, 3 is no different? have used all excuses and played all cards am now at a complete loss for excuses? i know there are plenty of you on this sight that must have used many resources to convince OHs to increase numbers please share! :D p.s apart from the obvious :*

just get one, i got my girlie and my OH didn't even know she was a birthday pressie to myself xx

yea only problem is Dotty was his ( mine) his last birthday pres for his 50th. :teehee: he hasn't got the slightest idea that he should do the same for me. ;) Men ah what can we do with them? maybe your right just get one and hope he doesn't notice! o:) o:)

Do you mean you'd love an iggy whippet cross or you'd love either one, an iggy or a whippet? If it's the first, do people deliberately cross them often?

I think I'm broody from seeing Lilly  Yea Nicky your idea sounds great lets flood him with iggy licks and love then hopefully he wont be able to resist  Seriously though I am really tempted by an iggy whippet cross but we really cant at the mo and I'm just finding it really frustrating! Janimal sounds like you've been taking Nickys advice! You lucky girl ;) sue x

It took me a while to convince my OH to go from 1 to 2, and then to go from 2 to 3!! :-

Bobby (Collie X) was 5 before I was allowed to have Dolly. I can't remember how I persuaded him (probably lots of nagging).

When I wanted a second whippet I eventually resorted to writing him a letter because he would not enter into any conversation about a third dog. :-

Some of the things I mentioned were:

The fact that I'm not getting any younger and life is very short :(

That 2 whippets are lovely together, particularly when running

I don't stop him doing any activities/hobbies he wants to do - skiing, narrowboating, paragliding (well he did paraglide until he had an accident!!).

I was amazed as it worked and he relented. We got Remmy 3 years ago (she was nearly a year old then, so not a puppy) and she fitted in so well. OH thinks she is perfect.

Now Bobby is 11, Dolly 6 and Remmy 4. I didn't really notice any practical difference going from 2 to 3, although obviously there is extra cost and I do like to be able to walk all mine together, so I think 3 or 4 would realistically be my limit.

Good luck. :luck: :luck:

Can't fault it you guys have some really lovely hubbys.

It's the other way with me, I had Milly 4 years then wanted another and was lucky enough to buy one from Jax. When I got home with her my wife never spoke to me for 2 weeks.

It was great. ;)

Seeing Poppy now it was worth every bit of grief.

Sarah that was soo helpful. I think my OH would be the same. At the moment he's doing the quiet thing which is usually a precursor to me getting! I think his concern is that a) Duke is soo heavy handed (pawed) because he's such a big whippet and a little bit clumsy :clown: , bless him b) our house isn't big enough (2 bed terrace) and c) The cost in vets bills Duke has just cost us £350  OK well get it back with insurance but all he can see is the initial outlay. Having said that he's quiet which is a good sign and he is usually good as gold which is why when he says no I listen. If (WHEN) we go to 3 I think it will have to be an iggy cross whippet otherwise darling Dukey may break it, bless him! doesn't stop me wanting though and whatever it is I'll love it!! cheers sue x

P.s I used to paraglide until i lost my nerve!

My question must be suffering from invisiblitis :ermm:

Sorry Kirislin I would rather a iggy whippet cross. I dont know how often they are crossed but I have seen them advertised. Im quite new to this myself so I don't know an awful lot but I have seen a couple of ads. Sorry wasn't ignoring you only just saw your message as a quote. Cheers Sue

P.s what does bump mean?
