Hi

Thanks for your kind advice, it is much appreciated - and pointers about crates.

I am looking for a white coated 36" crate from a supplier in the UK - there are loads in the US, but can't see any in the UK. Any ideas?

I am due to take home my little fellow on 3rd December - can hardly wait, busy preparing for him now. Breeder now fine and has sold other baby, so all OK.

Will post snaps as soon as I take them and his new Daddy has processed them!

Thanks again

Fiona x

I have not ever seen a white coated one, good luck with your search x
only white coat ones i have seen are the cat small animal ones use buy rescues that open at the top and have a rod through them to shut never seen a dog creat in white. once it has a cover over thought you will hardly see what colour it is anyway good luck

wendys right, we have a grey one and a black one but you wouldnt know what to look at them as theres a purple cover over the top lol.

you have to make it nice and cosy for your pup so he feels safe and secure, so cover it and fill it with lovely soft bedding, cheap single duvet/pillows from asda do the trick, i got 8 pillows from asda for £10, 4 went in the big crate and 2 in the wee onr, so makes it easy to clean, just take one out at a time and wash (or replace as they are that cheep)

heres a wee pic of my lots den a month or so ago,

ebay is the cheepest place we found to buy the crates have a look on ebay as you will find mostly black but some are silver/grey aswel, just go find a nice throw in the colour you want, to cover it and youll be sorted

Thanks for your advice, I haven't found one and gone for something different.

Wow, doesn't that look cosy!! Will definitely look for duvets etc when in town tomorrow. I also have a lovely fleece blanket to give him - it is so soft and snuggly I am tempted to keep it myself! Don't the babies grab the cover and chew it? Bit worried that something might happen to him when I am out if I leave it covered - will of course leave Jasper with kong/nylabone to keep his attention away from cover and mischief!

Looked long and hard yesterday for crates - there are so many! Black, brown, silver, gold and Pink(!) Went for a plain Savic 36" one in the end, having failed with the white coating avenue. With free postage it was about the same as some of the budget ones + a mega postage whack. Should last a lifetime.

Only 9 days to go.....

Do people recommend stainless steel or ceramic food/water bowls and what size?

Not white coated... but I can thoroughly recomend this firm....Excellent Dog Crates...

They look good crates
They do indeed! And I do wish I had seen that yesterday - But I have now bought a 36" savic crate, not a bad price on the net, but am worrying that it might be way too big for Jasper - some shops recommend the 30" crate for whippets. Jasper is tall already and his dad was tall. Can anyone comment?

Also, do you only use crates for toilet training and then put them away once the job is done - or do your whippies use them when they are older as a dog box for night times? Jasper will have a basket in the kitchen with me and the crate in the utility room for night times and retreat from the loving kids! What do you do?

Thanks - from the ever worrying (almost) whippet owner
