Thought I would do a new post for him now he is with us. :)

Him and Merlin are great friends and are loving running around together!!!

Have just measured him and he is 23.5" to shoulder..and his weight...

well its way above the recommended..erm......

26kg!!!!!!!! ..(ideal weight 16.45kg??????)..so he to loose approx 10kg!!

he hasnt eaten much since coming here and have put it down to new environment etc...

Hope to change over to raw gradually..but its finding something he will eat for now..I had to hand feed the lad this eve....something I dont want him to get used to!!!!!!

he really has settled in so quickly....he will be sleeping with his mates tonight as they are happy for him to be in their room

Not much sleep last nite as he was protesting about not being with me..clingy limpet going on there!! But hope tonight he will settle better...

Nite nite from Willow and me....hope to post pics tomorrow.

home and friends...........be nice to see him when you get some

pictures on :) :)

I am so glad you have Willow - he looks a lovely handsome boy. And I think Willow is a lovely name and not at all girly - suits a handsome boy - please don't shorten it :huggles:

sounds like all is going well

Very best of luck with him :luck: - can't wait to see the pics! :luck: :huggles:

Lovely to hear he has settled in well with his new friends. I'm sure the weight will not be a problem for long once he is running about with the others. :)

Aw, great he's doing so well.

Monty (a rescue) was a funny one with feeding when he first came to us, and it took a few weeks for him to realise that it was okay for him to eat. Maybe even a couple of months.

Like you, I started hand feeding, but then I stopped because I didn't know how I'd wean him back onto feeding himself if he got used to it. I tried all kinds of different foods... warm goats milk usually got him lapping so I could feel he had some goodness inside him.

But some days he refused to eat at all, and I could hear his stomach gurgling with hunger :( It was heartbreaking.

He attached himself very firmly to me as his 'saviour' so if I moved out of the room, he'd leave what he'd begun to eat and come to me (and the others would home in on his food bowl  ).

Eventually it was just patience, and doing exactly the same meal routine every day, and me staying in the room to watch them all eat... and finally he realised that "everyone eats like this" and "this is what we do at this time" and now he's as greedy as the others!

I bet Willow will settle down too once he realises that this is how mealtimes are, and he gives himself permission to eat  :luck:

glad hes settled in quickly  looking forward to some pics later

What lovely news ...so great to hear he is settling in with you well. :huggles: :luck: Im so looking forward to the pictures....Im so jealous hes just gorgeous...

Yay! Good luck Willow :) . He will settle in in no time at all, PM me if you want any advice as it took Casper a long time to settle in and I may be able to offer advice that will help  .

aaah how wonderful. I am sure he will settle in soon.

I have a Willow in foster here (he has a wonderful home ready for him soon) - he also has trouble eating - but he has the opposite weight problem in that he is very skinny...

here is a pic of our Willow in his new jumper that arrived today.

Really looking forward to seeing your Willow and hearing how he settles in, well done for adopting him and wishing you lots of happy years together. :huggles:

hi again...

At last he has eaten his breakfast and tea today! He has been much less of a limpet today but he barked alot when I went out to take some dogs out. I think he settled down. He greets me with such enthusiasm now...putting both paws round my neck and kissing me the only way whippets do!!! My oh is quite jealous and they dont get such a greeting nor did the previous owner!!lol Managed to get some calming tabs down him hidden in some cooked liver! They seem to be helping the transition. Will be back later with some pics of the gorgeous boy!
