If we want to get trials round the bends it's a 200 mile round trip for the likes of me and Bill & Bert & Jane Madgwick.
Our nearest bend track is Ockendon, through the Dartford Tunnel. You can't get any further South than us, you would have to go into the
sea, then you would be on your way to France. I have to give Bert all due credit, he has made the effort to trial his dogs week in and week out to get them ready for bend opens and bend championships.
Even if we go to the straight opens it is approx 120 miles before we get to a motorway, so I think the southerners show their enthusiasm
for whippet racing when they are prepared to do this , week after week. But because we love the sport so much we are prepared to do this.
