im looking into getting kiplin a harness because he really pulls on the lead,so thanks sharon for asking the question and thanks for the links
A harness won't necessarily cure pulling, I would recommend one of these for a hard puller. Much better than a halti or suchlike as the dogs seem to accept them a lot easier and the control comes from round the neck and not the face. No plastic clips to break either!!

Gentle Controller

i only want one for very short lead walking as most of the time they are off lead anyway, and he only pulls when he sees other dogs and i thought it would be more comfortable with a harness than his neck getting pulled, as he is a very powerful dog ,he walks lovely on his lead all the other times

Trouble is, on a harness you have much less control than on a collar or headcollar (of whatever kind) and I think it better to discourage pulling of any description under whatever circumstances ......... it will only get worse not better!!! Another thing is that I would not let them free run in a harness (too much to get caught up one) so you have the bother of putting it one/taking it off etc and then carrying it etc whereas with a Gencon you take it off and roll it up into your pocket. Much easier & quicker to put on and take off as well. On a walk I only use mine on the outward journey, not coming back.

Yes, get what you mean but if you tried one of the Gentle Controllers (as per my link) I think you would find that he wouldn't pull and that would be even better for you and him!!!
I think I'd like to try one of those for Muffin and Jonah - they look good. Do you use the all-in-one or the head collar and lead?

   I just read what I put on my post and what I meant to say was:
Yes I have to agree, even the anti-pull harnesses don't stop Lenny from pulling but I feel that its better for his neck (to be pulling on a harness) than to be pulling on a collar or headcollar.

Does that make sense? I thing you get what I mean now  :b

I'm just a bit put off by headcollars altogether now because we used to use a Gentle Leader on him and to start with it worked like a dream :) but Lenny is a very nervous dog and he really started to hate going out with it on, to the point when he would just dig his heels in and refuse to go out! At the moment we are ok with a harness - I just make sure I always have it clipped onto his lead in case he escapes from it (w00t)

If ever we do try another headcollar I would go for the Gencon - I looked into it when I saw it mentioned on here before

I have both! My preference would be just the headcollar though because if I use one when going out for a walk they only wear it on the outward journey so I can just clip the lead onto their normal collar for the homeward bit. At lurecoursing if I have the headcollar on I can also clip the lead to the collar as an extra safety precaution but, having said that, I have not had a dog get out of a Gencon (yet!!) because it tightens round the neck behind the ears and not round the face so, unlike a halti or a Gentle Leader, they cannot pull backwards out of it.

I can understand, most of my dogs have hated any sort of headcollar until I discovered the Gencon, quite by accident actually. All of mine that I have used it on haved accepted it straight away and it also calms Bertha to such an extent that if I put it on her I can cut her nails without her having a hissy fit!!! What a bonus!!! LOL!
