Doris' Diary

All day today she has been playing in our homemade paddling pool. AKA her mums whelping box :) she loves the water and leaves in the water. I have one problem slug/snail pellets i put some down without realising, are they dangerous to canines?

Are they metaldehyde based? If so, then yes. There are organic ones which are supposed to be harmless to wildlife and pets (in my experience they seem to be pretty harmess to slugs too).

On the whole, dogs are unlikely to eat them, but Doris being a pup is likely to eat anything, including slugs & snails poisoned with the pellets. I'd keep a close eye on her today, maybe give the garden a good watering to disperse the pellets, and not use them again. I can thoroughly recommend nematodes, since I've been using them I can grow things I never could before.

Thanks, @JudyN for the quick reply. it is Metaldehyde based I have been watering the garden but i will definatly keep my eye on her

Woof, I have some exciting news, I lost my first tooth. All my teeth are wobbly and my owner is glad of it as i will hopefully stop biting. I will be showing you much more pictures of the past weekend as I had a homemade paddling pool (Whelping Box). Dinner has just gone down so wooofffff ::Wagging tail:: :)

We've had to give up on the slug pellets completely so I'm not even bothering to plant the usual lettuce etc. We won't get any left for us after the slugs have their way. Mine will eat anything - even my belladonna plant barely survived its first few months! Harri has certainly eaten a few slugs etc. I think he's grown out of it now but I'm not taking the risk this year.

Yesterday we went on a big adventure…

13th May 2018

So, our adventure started when mummy put me and Olive in the car. I didn’t like it at first as mummy had me strapped in, then she allowed me to put my head out of the window :mmmm: 200000… lovely but strange smells whizzed at me.

Then the booming engine stopped, so we hopped on out, I had a quick wee then we both sprung into Pets At Home. I was confused on what mummy wanted to buy as we have all sorts but she then led us to the lead isle where mummy bought 2 harnesses, when we got to the counter the lovely woman gave us a gravy bone each then a sprat. The man persuaded mummy to buy a packet of sprats.

Back in the car Edale here we come! We travelled 45 mins non-stop. The car was so hot even though the windows were open. Olive wouldn’t settle.
We arrived, I leaped out the car in excitement. I had a quick sniff of the warm path then a huge bundle of energy came bounding at me, I stiffened I had gone into ‘fight mode’. It was okay though as mummy grabbed me and told me off. I had got a 5 second time out. I was allowed down again, my tail went up wagging. The energy= A working Cocker Spaniel called Humphrey. We had a run on the large field.

We then walked 10 mins to the local dog-friendly pub called The Ramblers Inn. We were going to sit outside then we decided to sit indoors where it is cooler. The owners of the pub were so friendly; they gave us gravy bones and a sausage each. I was so tiered, mummy allowed me to sleep on the chair next to her at table height. I ignored the food.

We then continued into the village of Edale, we went for a coffee at another dog-friendly pub called The Old Nags Head.

Then walked back to Humphrey’s house, I met some sheep and lambs. Then we travelled back home for a well-deserved rest. Hope everyone had a great weekend and long hold the weather.

Bow wow, Today I went for a haircut, at first I growled and barked then I calmed down whilst mum was on the table being groomed. Wow, the clippers startled me. After Olive it was my turn the kind lady lifted me up and I sat perfect all the time while she clipped and bathed me. Achew! Achew! Achew! All day today I have been sneezing and it is annoying mummy. What could it be? Is there a way to stop the sneezes? Here are some pictures of today I smell horrible that perfume they put on, and mummy also had it.
– Doris, I hope everyone likes my new hairdo and have a good night with your four legged friends :)

Woof,

Today we had a few deliveries. 2 Dog harnesses, some dog food and dog tags. So my sneezing has stopped today. But mum will keep an eye on it as it could be hay fever. Our harnesses are the Julius K9 ones. My size is baby 2 and Olive’s is the Mini Mini size. Mum had to decide on a good dog food so she bought some encore, and Simpsons Premium Dry. At the minute mum has been hiding some sprats in our food to make us more interested in eating. Our dog tags are diamante around the edge with mum’s details on.

Woof,

Today mum took me for a walk it was so warm.
In a result of this mum decided to take me for a 1 hour walk. Then mum made me a flower collar to toast the good weather.

What did you do this weekend? Did you watch the wedding? If so what did you think?

Congratulations Harry and Megan.
What did you do to celebrate the wedding? We had family and friends over for drinks and nibbles :)
