i think it does show the versatility of our breed, and to have bred them yourselves is testament to your values and protection of the breed, it is so sad to see so many breeds changing simply in mans eyes"beauty" many breeds have lost the function to do what they were bred for :( i work mine as you know and im pleased with results in field and ring of what dad and i have bred, i am pleased to have another breeders dog here from show lines and his prey drive is ziltch!! mind you she did say brain was optional extra :D i love him all the same and will continue to try him working before i use him on my bitches for what he is intended, the bloodlines between mine and his are perfect , bringing right qualities in appearance, the only down side is his lack of prey drive :))

After seeing Candice and Ben's attempt at lamping I would keep her well away from him maybe she's a bad influence :teehee:

can anyone tell me if there are any real working whippets shown these days and to what degree of success have they achieved? or indeed any true working whippets from the past , how well did they do and what were they used for in the field?
many thanks in advance

Thank you for raising this topic. Silkdance Highland Affair won several coursing trophies before the ban in 2004 and was placed at Crufts every year 2004-2007. She has a significant turn of speed but subsequently showed absolutely no interest in chasing an artificial lure. This obviously rules her out of similar classes, and, in spite of her correct size and conformation, I feel that such whippets used to chasing skin  are excluded from the ring
