I havent posted on this before but i have followed Siennas progress. To be able to read our dogs and make decisions for them selflessly is the true sign of our love for them. I for one have never doubted that you are fighting for Sienna for her and because she is fighting for herself. Only you can see what she is telling you in her eyes. She will run again because you have given her the chance. If she doesnt that is because she has made the decision not to and you have the honour and grace to allow her that decision.

Congratulations to Sienna on the first of many milestones and congratualtions on yourselves for allowing her to make them. You do realise you will have created a monster though - now she knows you will do anything for her she will keep asking! Get used to the roo-ing!

No change there then she was a Diva before the accident, :lol: we waited for the roo rooing because she is the only one that does it out of all 4, for the first couple of weeks there was none, so when she did it to me for the first time that was a true sign for us that she was happy and on the road to recovery. :D

It wasn't a hard decision to fight for her because although her body was broken she was still Sienna when you looked into her eyes, the fact that she is mobile now is the most wonderful feeling because the worst thing by far through this has been the constant worry that after all this what if she didnt walk again and we had to make the final decision for her when she was very alive in her mind, but thats over now :sweating:
 
I think the word is touching. Sienna has touched all of our hearts. A hard decision had to be made. You made that decision and have given her all the love and support that she needed and will continue to need for some time to come.

Well done Sienna. I hope that you continue to improve :luck:
 
Watching that reminded me of nursing a beloved Collie back from encephalitis, and she regained a really good quality of life given her age. All strength to you both, she is a lovely dog and you will be very close after what you've been through together. It is amazing what can be achieved through love and patience. Reiki can be very helpful in some cases - do you have anyone near you who works with animals?
 
Another thought that you might find helpful Lesley; when I was teaching my Jess to walk again I supported her with a scarf slung around her middle, and the ends held in my hand. It looked odd when we were out for walks, but it really helped her with balance while she was still weak and unco-ordinated.
 
Some years ago I had a little whippet, she was 9 years old and when playing in the garden she suddenly twisted, screamed and couldn't move. She was paralysed. I think we would have had her put to sleep but her eyes were so bright we knew we had to give her a chance.

After two weeks we finally decided to end her life but she just managed to move one foot and we knew there was a chance that she may recover.

It took a long time, and she didn't completely recover, but I believe she was happy to trot across the fields with the other dogs and we finally lost her when she was 16.

We can all give advice to other people, and I am probably guilty myself, but it is not easy when it happens to you.

I do hope your little girl makes a good recovery, she seems to be doing very well so far.

Hi Lesley, I know you remember the day Diesel had his accident at racing..well that was over 3 years now...and I still see an improvement in him ever day :))

just the other sunday Scott got the racing jackets out as he was taking Sam to the "Northern" and as soon as he saw them he started going bonkers so Scott put a jacket on him and he ran round the front room like a pup :)) he then refused to be left at home, so went with them and had 3 goes after the lure..he loved it.

He knows his limitations but enjoys his life to the full...Im sending you lots of luck and love to you Sienna :luck:

Im sure we would all do anything for our dogs if it meant keeping them with us alive and happy. :huggles: :huggles: Keep up the fight Sienna. :huggles:

aww Sienna has made a lot of progress in that time, if determination heals she'll make it with hers and your together.

Will it get to a point where a softly padded splint may help on her front right leg to enable her to have a bit more balance or do they advise just waiting to see what she can do ?

She has been through so much, and your family must have too

I am so glad for Sienna and for all of you, such a good recovery she looks to be making! :wub: It is very hard to watch any loved one in the early stages of a recovery, watching normal everyday activities being so hard for them to do, but so rewarding when you can see such a real improvement in a relatively short time.

Bless her and I am so glad she's making such progress.
 
lesley that is truly amazing what an improvement all down to your determination and siennas bravery she will be up and about with the rest in no time please keep us updated with her progress through video i really enjoyed seeing her :huggles:
 
:wub: :wub: You have simply no idea how over-the-moon I am to see this brave little girl "finding her feet" again! :wub: :wub:

It certainly did bring a tear to my eyes, but in the best way possible. To know all that she has been through, and yet to see that all your love and care is paying off... it's too much for words :huggles:

Congratulations to the stunning little girl - and of course to her wonderful owners, for giving her a second chance at life. :wub:

How fantastic to see Sienna up and moving around again :)) . Well done on all the excellent work you have done to bring her so far in such a relatively short time. I look forward to seeing another video in 8 weeks time - bet she'll be starting to trot around by then. Big hugs to Sienna and to you and all the other boys and girls. :huggles:

Sorry there has been a negative comment or two - the people concerned obviously haven't been on the forum long enough to know how much you love your dogs and would never let them suffer needlessly. There are still strong K9 vibes coming Sienna's way from most of us. :thumbsup:
 
Well done Sienna, she must have a strong fighting spirit to have come so far in 8 weeks.

And well done to the rest of you for the dedication and love you have given her. I hope Sienna goes from strength to strength with her recovery and I think she will with such a supposrtive family :)
 
Not posted for a while Lesley,So all the BEST and continued improvement for Sienna.It was upsetting watching the clips but if Eric was in the same boat i'd do the same :thumbsup: :luck:
 
Brilliant! Of course you made the right decision Lesley and all your hard work is paying off. I would have done exactly the same as you and hang the expense!
 
I do not post on here very much, but i just watched the vid of Sienna i am not aware of what happened but all i can say is well done you,she is beautiful :wub: and made so much progress in eight weeks,bless her what a brave girl :huggles:
